  • Hello Debbie. I'm sorry I didn't get here in time to wish you a Merry Christmas, though I do hope you had a good one. It's been many months since I've been to the WS site. If and when I upload photos I do it from the software, itself. I still use WS as a photo storage site, but that's it. Anyway, since I missed sending you Christmas wishes I didn't want to miss wishing you and yours many blessings and much happiness in the New Year. Char

  • Me again Debbie :o) Thanks much for your comments on some of my community photos. That photo of the river (natural look, not milky) unfortunatelly did not make the PRO section...although I tried :o) I really apreciate your comments...thank you. And, of course, excuse my grammar here bellow :o. Maria

  • P.S...That fractured quote should read; "Never DO today what you can put off till tomorrow." It's late, I'm tired, and my mind is mush!

  • Hello again Ms Zebra...Would you believe I just got around to reading the message you left on my home page?! I stopped back by to congratulate you on your new grandbaby, and I see that more congratulations are in order on an album you had featured. Good show...and a lovely album! I'm afraid I'm very lax in checking the daily features. I initially came to WS for their beautiful SS and gorgeous (well, at least at one time they were!) Pro-Shots. Come to think of it, even back then they weren't ALL winners, but were consistently better than they are now! So...a belated congratulations to you on both counts. Although I'm sure the new grandchild takes precedence! I just noticed you have a star* by your name again. Did you up and rejoin this chaotic website?! Just couldn't live without the moronic WS staff, huh? (^; Well, I've got loads of things I should be doing...but I'm not. You know what they say...Never put off till tomorrow what you can put off today! d^; Take care, Debbie...and enjoy that baby!

  • Hi Debbie! Thanks so very much for your kind words on my POTD from my London Album Magical Nights and Days at the Thames. I really did enjoy London what a thrill not only to be able to enjoy this wonderful city and capture it’s beauty but also to be honoured by having this Magical Moment on the Thames at night featured! More than anything so it gave me a "taste" for England again, and I really want to come and travel the beautiful countryside (without all the rain - pleeeezzze...:D)Have a fantastic day! Marita

  • hey, deb, I've lost track of my dog comments, couldn't locate them. but here in gosford council, central coast nsw, they are very pro-dog because the dog lobby is so strong and so all the dog lovers relocate from sydney up here to let loose. things have improved but we are still have the only council on the nsw coast that allows dogs on the beaches. in a hot climate (well usually, we are, as I'm sure your son has complained, in the grip of an antarctic seizure, Howard refuses to sign the Kyoto protocol), dogs are not well received by non owners. I can however see the dilemma from a dog owner's pt of view, although here in australia there are heaps of places to take dogs off the beaches. ps if you ever want to come over, I and my husband (Koropaul webshots) are very happy to show you round!). cheers Jen

  • Dear Zebbie,Thanks for your comment on the pools. It is a strange phenomena that occurs frequently in these desert areas. A small pebble and/or sand gets cought in a depression and is blown round and round until it digs a "pot hole" in the stone. Then the rains come. The holes fill and the birds and animal come to drink. They bring with them seeds and other stuff. They also leave excretia, which contntains seeds, and etc. which gets deposited in the pools. These become microcosms of "pond life". They remain viable until the hole drys up. If the plant or animal is capable of making spoors they do and then when the rains come again the plants and microscopic animals spring to life in a frenzy to reproduce. And the cycle goes on. Some species of desert plants can go years without germinating and then they get enough water to spring to life! It is quite a fascinating process and the Rangers at the park had a really great talk about this. They also said that people putting their hands into the water would disturb the balance of the pool! These little microcosms are that fragile. I really enjoyed your pictures. I am a great fan of British Mysteries as well as the "Brit Coms" (British comedies) like Are you Being Served?, Are you being served, Again?, As Time Goes By and Keeping up Appearances, just to name a few. You pics made England seem a bit closer. Dr. Helen of Drhhelen and EdandHelen

  • Hello Ms Zebra, I've been away from the boards for awhile and just finished catching up on some of the postings and a few downloads. I hadn't realized that your pro membership was now over. I just finished reading a message you had left for akbash...whom I will greatly miss...because like you, I "got it." (^; The message threads will most likely be quite boring now. My membership is up in August and I'll not be renewing. If and when Webshots is sold or Cnet reconsiders their misguided business decisions and gets with the program again...I may rejoin, but it will be under a new user name. Jer (the second half of Char) passed away last year, so that ID is now moot. I would love to see WS restored to, or at least come close to the quality website it was when I first joined in 1999. I became a Pro Member in January of 2000. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see what happens...However, I won't be holding my breath waiting for anything too drastic in the way of changes or improvements to this site! I wish you the best, Debbie and maybe well "see" each other again somewhere on down the road...(^: Take care...Char*

  • Debbie, Thanks for the kind comments on my Oregon coast album. I saw some similarity in the rocky coast of some of your Cornwall shots. The world's a lovely place, but there's more of it than I will ever get to see. Thanks for letting me visit Cornwall vicariously.

  • Jambo Debbie! I've actually been off on a photo shoot (last week) on a 3,000 acre exotic wildlife ranch in Oklahoma. We went as guests of the owners in return for taking photos of the many species from all around the world, some of which they will use on their website. I was not satisfied with ANY of these and see it is time to upgrade my camera and my skills. • Hello Deb, glad you viewed and commented on some of the Gold Coast photos. Thanks! We have been staying at Main Beach Caravan Park (they call it a Tourist Park these days) in a cabin for the last few years, during our winter. due to go there in two weeks. Gets the lungs out of the cold. I'd never survive in Cornwall, although I do love the scenery. The shots around Umina are near to home. Did you see the recent tree down one's? They were from the recent storms (actually a severe double mid-latitude depression). The tanker is still stuck (they told the captains to go out to sea and take on balast but this guy and some others ignored the advice!) The local cafe has found a newfound tourist wealth. The Central Coast, which is south of the Hunter area, copped severe storm damage. We lost all power for two days (some for four days). The candlelight, romantic at first, lost its novelty after some time and the house became quite damp and cold. However we did survive! You probably would have said, had you been here, "Jen, this isn't cold, I show you cold!". Cheers Jen

  • Hi Deb, Your kind and much appreciated comments on my photo of the old camera with flash attachment, the dried leaves spread around and the old black & white photo in the background, I'm afriad, gives me WAY too much credit. We were in Brookhaven, Mississippi in 1992 for a wedding and I was walking down a street one day and saw this in a store window. Just raised the camera and clicked. But thanks for thinking I was smart enough to stage all that. It is one of my favorites, too. Here's the part you'll like... the Grandmother of the bride, 92 years old, told us she had been on safari in Kenya several years previously and STILL wanted to go back!!! I knew it would be costly to have my ashes sent to Kenya some day, so on my 1994 safari I brought home film cannisters of African soil from 5 or 6 places in Kenya and Tanzania, and some day it will be mixed with my ashes. Lovely thought! If a man falls in love with a beautiful woman he may some day get over it... if he falls in love with Africa, he never does. Best - Old Bwana

  • Hi Debbie, thanks for popping by my Puerto Vallarta album. Haven't been on any vacations since then as the MS struck and with a vengeance. Cannot handle hot weather any more which is quite a change for me after having grown up in the tropics. Glad you enjoyed your vicarious holiday! Sharon(photoop23) pointed out to me that my comments section for GB wasn't working properly so had to fix my WS account/options. All better now! Leslie

  • Hi Debbie, very many thanks for your kind comments on my 'Fountains Abbey' photo, much appreciated. I can see from your Albums you take your photography seriously and I thought you might also like to know about another photo website that I contribute to. It's www.ephotozine.com see what you think and let me know. Best wishes Ray

  • Thanks for you comments, I enjoyed them. I like your reasoning for your loopy dog. I think Heidi is just too smart! She oversees my driving and whines and cringes if I come too close to another car. She only obeys when its good for her. I gave her a choice of beef jerky pieces one day, she looked at me like I was a dummy and then licked one and choice the other one! I hope I am as smart as her one day! Your dog sounds similar. You gotta love them! I love the wonderful photos of your home and country. My family roots come from somewhere back there. I understand there is a famous pub in our familys heritage, Faulkner's. Do not know if thats close to you. I am going to visit your beautiful land one day, God willing. Best regards, Gary

  • Hi Debbie, Great to hear from you again! Thanks for your kind message in my guestbook - I do appreciate it. The autumn splendour is gone - the leaves have all blown off the trees and I had really wanted to get to Tarn Hows this year! Better luck next time! Hope you are well! Best wishes, Mandy

  • Hi Debbie. It was great to see you in my in box today and I really do appreciate your kind wishes for my Spring comes to Western Australia feature. You're welcome to go for a swim in the ocean but the water is VERY cold at this time of the year - in fact being the Southern Ocean it is none too warm at the best of times!! Very many thanks and best wishes, Peter in Western Australia
