I have a sugestion for your future holiday in Romania: go to Apuseni Mountains, in the village Arieseni and I'm sure you'll enjoy the place ( see some images in my shoebox)

Thanks a lot for visiting ; remarcable your Revolution album. I remembre those days, I was in 16 of December and in 18-19 in Timisoara and I saw moments of civil war. After that I participate in 20-21 and 22 Dec in street demonstrations in Arad (town near Timisoara) and ... memories. It is quite a great filling to be part of the history, (a)live. Thanks for sharing.

Hi there village_fox. I am glad that you enjoy Romania. There are not too manny that do so, likely because it is hard to experience and understand another culture, especialy one which succeded the roman culture ancient roots and has been melted with oriental threads and has been cooked for aprox 2000 years ... I highly appreciate your comments on my pictures. I do enjoy taking pictures during my travels across Romania (I travel a lot, it comes with the territory), landscape and human impression as can be seen are my favorite. I used some digital Nikons previously, finnaly landing on Nikon D40 because I think the resolution does not matter annymore (6 Mp are more than ennough)and used properly this little jewel offers great images. Recently I started shooting film (35mm) and experimentalize the different technich from digital ; the first results are estonishing (back to film ? - maybe). thanks for your comments on the Fagaras villages. Unfortunately, the story is sad. The Saxons left. They Gypsies took over. The villages re slowly decaying and they just slide into oblivion. it is clear that you see the country with a different eye from the tourist usual view. It is a beautiful country but it needs a lot of effort to come back into the daylight.

I enjoyed and laughed at the "smart asses" ones too..lol I knew you would like to see the villages I saw, and this is one of the reasons I've pictured them... and glad you are happy to have Rupea Castle in your collection ;)) What you will visit in Romania this time and how long you will stay?
