As September 11th approaches, Jonnie, I hope we can all take a moment to bow our heads in silence and prayer and remember all who were tragically lost on that horrific day in 2001! I have made a video tribute for 9/11 entitled "Where were you when the world stopped turning?", if you get a chance, please answer. GOD BLESS YOU & GOD BLESS THE USA!!! Warmest & Best Wishes, Barbara

You are a photographer -- don't have to wait 'til you grow up. You have a very good eye for interesting photos. The New Jersey seaside one made me feel like I had been there. Only been to the NJ shore once in 1964, seems like. It was a wonderful trip that included the New York World's Fair, New York with all the sights like museums and Broadway shows, etc. I'd still like to see New York City during the holiday season. Now me, I'm not a photographer. Mine are just snapshots, but I'm crazy about photos anyway.

Vanlein, I guess you were right about tagging my photos; I tagged a few and my album John Muir Trail got featured, collecting zillions of views -- thanks for the tip.

Jonnie Vanlein, Thanks once again for all your attention and kind remarks about my photos, this time of architecture. If you liked the color ones you might like the black and white ones in the older album "Stanford University." A lot of those were taken with a view camera (better for architecture). I've tagged some of my albums but not individual pictures. Should I?

Hi, thanks so much for your comment on my Framed Koker photo! it is one I like a lot, I took quite a few to get that one, but my friend's lens was visible in some of them (he was behind the tree taking other photos). I'll be sure to check some of your out! Mike.

Hey there. Thanks for checking out my sunsets. You asked if I live in california... Nope, I'm far away in central Illinois. I have a good friend that lives in Cali. that we go see every few years or so. I always come back with ton of pictures from there. I still have close to a thousand that I took last Sept. that I haven't gotten up on Webshots yet! Yeah, I'm slow...lol. Have a great weekend, what's left. John.

Hi Friend, thanks for visiting my Origami Peacock. I appreciate your comments. I used 1032 pieces and spent approximately 30 hours to make it. If you like my origami, then you should take a look at my Origamic Architecture albums too. Those are my favorites. Thanks again. ~Dilip

Regarding the trees, it might appear that I can look at any old tree and rattle off the Latin name of it, which actually isn't true. I don't know that much about botany, although as you guess I have had training in environmental sciences. There are a few trees I do know, for instance, the Giant Sequoia, the Redwood, and the Dawn Redwood. The Dawn Redwood isn't just any old tree; it's related to the other two (forming a group of three, I forget at what level) and was thought to be extinct until the 1930s if I remember right, when some were discovered alive in China. Cape Cod; never been there. Have my own photos of the coast at Manzanita. Cape Cod is a glacial moraine (left over from the ice age).

Thank you for all your nice remarks about my albums. The tree you noted is a Quercus agrifolia -- native to the region.

Hi Jonn, Thanks for your reply, I too have'nt been on the computer much recently, a bit busy so I have only looked at two or three of your albums so far, but what I have seen are very good indeed, so very soon I will make time to view lots more of them, and my oh my, you do have quite a few of them uploaded here. I will probably be uploading a couple more very soon, I think its a great site and really good to share comments with each other, I like people to criticise my work as it always helps to hear other peoples opinions, I used to be a member of a camera club in England, and the judges used to really slate our pics, but one thing is for sure, it taught me one hell of a lot about photography. You talked about my stats in your message, I dont really know how this works or how it could affect me, so maybe you could enlighten me on this, anyway Jonn, thanks again for your reply and hope to talk again soon. Ray.

Hi Jonnie, Thankyou very much for your nice comment about my album "Contrast" The program that I used to edit the pics is Adobe photoshop CS3, but any version of photoshop will do just fine, or some other programs like paintshop pro would do it. What I did in photoshop CS3 was use the new black and white adjustment feature to convert them to B/W, then still in black and white adjustment, I used the cyan and blue sliders to make the blue of the sky very dark or black, then I gave them lots of contrast, and then I used the History brush tool to bring back the original colour back to parts where I wanted it. another way with an older version of photoshop is..convert a color foto to b/w using the image/adjustments/desatur ate command, and then use the history brush tool to bring back the color in the parts you want, and then if you want, give them lots of contrast. I hope this helps, Ray.. ps, now to browse some of your albums if thats ok with you? Ray.
