G'Morning Sylvia: Thanks for warning me of "the dangers of windmill photography" :-) ... Just kiddin' ... The greatest danger of photographing the "Wind Farm" was the dirt (county?) road leading through the middle of the farm, but I was careful while turning around and didn't get 'stuck'. All of these photos were taken from the car (or the roads) ... so I didn't have any "encounters with rattlesnakes". ;-) Marv

Hello Sylvia. This just a note - for whatever it is worth ? Just because I noticed a comment of yours in Marv's windmill album. Here goes: Hollywood does make an occasional great movie. "Heartland" (1979). A (very) realistically portrayed movie based on a true story ... Letters written by Elinore Pruitt Stewart provided the basis for the film. These letters dated from April 1909 to November 1913 and were first printed in "The Atlantic Monthly." Basic story: a woman in the east answers a newspaper ad for a housekeeper for a farm out in the hinterlands of Wyoming. Brings her young daughter. And the movie (very) realistically portrays the hardships. If you view this movie - I think you'll be pleasently surprised by its' (realism) ! (Seemes) like a movie you might possibly appreciate ??? Just for the heck of it, this is my bizarre message ... Gary in Seattle :) Might see if this works ? >> www.imdb.com/title/tt0082 508/

Hi Sylvia: Thanks for viewing and for your kind comments on my "Weathervanes and Finials" album. I had the "1937" church vane, the North Platte horse vane, most windmills and other "Finial" (toppers) shots, but the rest of the weathervanes were shot in 2 weeks! Of course, I'm still "refining" and adding to the album. (8-D) ... I've found that cloudy days were best for detail and the trees without leaves really help. You can also see some snow on the roofs of some shots ... So far I haven't been "talked to" by Homeland Security but figure they have reports on my "suspicious-activity " by now (I mostly shoot from the street and sidewalks with my 300mm lens)... I've avoided "gated-communities and the Denver Polo Club grounds ... but did get some great vanes in the Denver Country Club area! I was "run-off" at the Denver Country Club itself, when I tried to take a photo of their golf vane! Marv

Hello Sylvia, I must tell you your dolls are awesome! I know "oh no it's another fan letter," sorry but yes! Only someone with your talent can get so much talent into their work. Your dolls really have an artists touch. I would like to share some with friends if I may have your permission by listing some on my webshot page in an album of your work or as a link to your webshots page. We all love paper dolls and you are one of my 2 favorite artists the other being Sandra Vanderpool. i really would be honored to be allowed to just share a link to your page if i might You really are a superb artist Thank you Cindy

Hi Sylvia: Thanks for viewing my North Platte album and for your kind comments. I always enjoy hearing from you. I see (below) that you contacted Brian Morris. That's great! I think that the North Platte Chamber of Commerce and Bob Greene should give me "a cut" for promotion. :-) ... Actually, I wasn't sure how many "Webshooters" or "CHSers" had even heard of the Canteen or the book. The subject "is" becoming ancient history. ;-) Marv

Hi Sylvia, thanks for browsing my family albums and leaving such a nice comment. I received a real old fashioned letter from Rod Patterson, CHS class of 1954, today. He lives in Canaan New York.

Good to hear from you Sylvia. What a blast from the past; gave me chills! I had a lot of friends in your class. I still communicate a lot with Ron McVicker. Thank you for the nice comment on my family albums.

Hi Sylvia: Many Thanks for your comment on my WS (8>o)(eyes) entry. I believe my grandmother, Emma Luella (Burch) Selk, was 18 or 19 when the photo was taken. I'm not sure it was a "wedding photo", it might have been taken in their first year of marriage. For a few of my "eyes" pics that didn't make-the-cut, plus another photo of Betty Boop, see my "Weekend Walk" photos album beginning at: http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2522267380001186366tdqlhe ... Marv (BerryMan) ... BTW: There is also a "Jackalope" with a rather "glassy" eye in the "Walk" album. ;-)

Hi; I googled Gene Maiden and found your pic on webshots. Do you know how to get in touch with Gene? I know him from Antique Shows; he and I share an interest in hand-colored natural history illustrations. Co you know where he lives, or have a phone # for him? Thanks.
