Four things can really catch my attention for beautiful scenery: sky, mountains, oceans (or a really big body of water) and trees. Any combination (or best: all of 'em) can make an area a candidate for beauty.

A spectacular view of the Alaska Range heights at Denali Park. Few ever get to see this sight, and this is a great photo showing the rugged spires on the south approach!

Peulik is an amazing mountain and this is an amazing photo. Only someone viewing the old girl from lake level could capture this great shot!
I love contrasts, and winter provides one of the best opportunities of black-on-white. This is a great sunset photo featuring lots of blue instead of red.
