It is really fantastic to see the sun setting in this region, with a soft brise and the day warmth vanishing.

The Caracol National Park's vegetation is Subtropical Humid Mixed Forest. The upper storey is dominated by the Araucaria angustifolia, and the lower storeys are composed by several broadleved species of trees.

South Brazil is covered with Mixed Subtropical Humid Forest. The main conifers belong to the Podocarpus and Araucaria genera, and the broadleaved are mostly Ocotea, Mimosa, Nectandra and Cedrela.

The Araucaria angustifolia is southern Brazil's symbol tree. It was overlogged when the region was settled by European immigrants, during the late XIX century and early XX century. I plant a dozen of them each year.
