Pamela, thanks for giving positive opinion about my beloved country "Indonesia" for those who want to travel to Indonesia. Recently, most people particularly western people have just a bit information about Indonesia and think that it is unsafe place to visit. On November 9th, I am travelling to S'pore and Malaysia, have you ever been there? how do they compare with Indonesia? thanks.

Keyoz70, the homestay was Lili's, great location right on the banks of the lake. I was travelling with 4 Indonesian friends so we took the two bungalows closest to the water. 3 guys in one and my 'cousin' Elvy and myself in the other. Last year I stayed again in Maninjau in September and stayed at Beach Inn- see photos on new website http://www.webshots.com/user/ppamela2006 Did that great 2 day jungle trek from Bukittinggi to Lake Maninjau. Recommended guide for this trip is Hendri- contactable at hen_westsumatra@yahoo.com or mobile +628126782675 Cheers, Pamela.

Wompler, Sorry did not see your message. Have been in Indonesia for 5 months now and just spent 5 weeks in Bukit Lawang. Rehabilitation centre is still open and people can visit and see the feeding twice a day. I only saw one orangutan on my trek but many travelelrs see many on their current treks into the jungle being one day or overnight treks. Beautiful place with lots to see and do. Had a ball whilst I was there and look forward to going back in the next year or so again. YOu can email me at pamelajoyfuge@hotmail.com if you wish.

I enjoyed your Indonesia photos. I'm interested to know more about the situation now in Bukit Lawang as I was there just a few months before the flood. You said you only saw one orangutan; has the rehabilitation centre been closed down? Terima kasih.
