I am captivated by the unusual pattern in the rock. I want to know how it was made. It looks like everything was soft when the entire mass of rock was formed.

Notice how the many layers were all deformed while in a plastic state. There are no fractures anywhere. The entire mass of rock was laid down in the same sweep of silt-laden water.

More multiple layers of strata laid down while in a plastic state. Smooth as silk. That was one heck of a flood that deposited all that silt.
