Dear Nora, thank you so much for your prompt reply. It is greatly appreciated! Nora, I wish to you and your loved ones “Good Tidings of Comfort and Joy”. I offer you my heartfelt Greetings for a very Happy Christmas and a Wonderful New Year. With all my friendship, Annick.
Nora, I saw your comment in the blog and want to tell you that I had no idea what to enter either, so I waited to see the display page. Then I realized that I did have 3 photos that I could use. Sometimes it helps to see what others are doing, and then the mind goes 'yes'. As for the quirky rules, I believe this is an attempt to make this contest different from 2 previous challenges. Also, you should know that some of us objected strongly to making our families public. Allowing pets etc. lets these members participate. You will notice that many members simply never follow the rules. The option of sharing a non-qualifying entry is open to all of us. Hope this helps. ~Jade
Thanks for the comment on my glassy green pepper. I appreciate feedback on how to make my pictures better. I will remember your comment on the crinkly paper the next time :)
Hi Nora, if the dead body of someone (a victim of a crime for instance) is found and the police wants to identify that person, it is sometimes required yo make a mask of plaster for reconstruction purposes. In my comment on your shot of the mask I was referring to that....
Have a nice weekend, Tjebbe
I am going to take a wild guess that your name is Nora...(?) Just wanted to say thank you for your comment on my 'CC' entry, I darken the edges because the blue skies were so pale it took away from the photo. Winter skies can be a bit pale in the northern climates. ~Beve
I too must jump to the defense of my friend Elva(Montecore827). You have every right to your opinion but it is just that ~ YOUR OPINION. That is all, nothing more. You have no clue who or what Elva is about to jump to the conclusion that she demeans her cats is obviously a mistake on your part. And if you need any more proof you can look at ANY of her albums & you'll see that she clearly adores her cats & that they are well cared for. So just because you don't have much of a sense of humor that doesn't give you the right to attack someone else for having one. Maybe in the future when you disagree with the judges choices you'll just pretend to be happy for the winners & congragulate them like any gracious loser should. But hey that's just MY opinion. I just think it's really kinda ironic that you used the terms childish & demeaning when you talked about the winning pics since your behavior throughout this exchange has been very childish & demeaning. I would think you'd be the exact opposite considering your public outrage of it. I guess we all have the same ability to be WRONG now & again. It's sad that as adults we can't always own up to it. I hope you don't get upset about my opinion. Have a nice day....Robbi
I don't think that I would have to apologize for an opinion, so I won't. The 'attack' exist only in your mind. I voiced my opinion that dressing up animals is not funny but demeaning to them. Where is the attack in that, I wonder? Childish? Yes, probably everyone tried in childhood, how our cat/pet would look like in a hat perhaps, or something. But most of us had grown out of it and realised that it is not the best for our pets who have their own, animal dignity.
A friend of mine was absolutely correct; the main problem is here and on web-pages like this is that one should only say nice things, never honest opinions. Honesty seems to be a thing to be avoided.
But, perhaps, not completely in agreement. Again, Noraquick, you are quick to publicly insult. Not so quick to apologize. You didn't just disagree. You attacked. If you want your own opinion, have it. I won't tell you what I think of your photography if you don't tell me what you think of mine. Critique offers suggestions to make things better. Criticism and attack say this is wrong, this is bad, this is not funny, this is demeaning, childish... What it all boils down to is this: ...If you cannot say something nice or do something useful, keep the opinions to yourself. It was and should be a joy to win, downgraded by behavior like yours. MJ
It is completely pointless. This place is not good for arguing, especially not with people who cannot take the slightest criticism or accept a different opinion. OK, your pets, your life, your opinion, so obviously you do with them as you like. But I will not find it funny, however much you explain how much you like your cats. It is not funny. It is - at best - childish. It is - at worst - demeaning to the pets. And that IS my opinion.
Look, I love animals. I adore my cats. I respect their intelligence and their beauty as you may see by the majority of the pictures I take of them. We play together a lot. We snuggle with each other a lot. Sometimes they pester me a little and sometimes I pester them back, but it's all in fun. I can assure you, Monte and I had a very fun play session after I managed to get the wig back from him and you'll be pleased to know he left a few little teeth impressions and little scratches on me, as I deserved. These creatures bring us much joy and I try my best to keep them happy and healthy in return. I also am active in a couple of cat rescue organizations. If Monte was accustomed to being demeaned, he wouldn't have had such an indignant look on his face.

I wonder if I should delete the comments here of those who deleted mine answer there. It would be fitting, but I am not like them. I play fairly.
