Hi Leila. In reply to your question about climbing Mount Kilimanjaro - we went at the end of March and this was definitely not the best time to go. We were warned that it is the start of the rainy season, but, as it was the only time we could go, we went ahead anyway. We were lucky with not getting much rain on the lower slopes, but on the higher slopes we had a lot of snow and this made the camping and walking more difficult than it should have been. It particularly made the final ascent difficult, as we were slipping in the snow going up the steep slope and, on the last stretch to Uhuru, the snow was sometimes way up above our knees, requiring a lot more energy for walking. You should go in December, January or February. You definitely made the right choice with the Rongai Route- it is fantastic. We came down the Marangu route and were so glad we hadn't gone up it, as it was much less like real hiking and there were so many people on it, whereas we were pretty much on our own. I hope you don't get hit with altitude sickness, as a couple of members of our group were, therefore being unable to make it to the summit. That last bit is really tough, as the air is so thin, and I could barely manage 20 steps before needing to rest. Have a great time and good luck.
