  • mtnsunriser, enjoyed you pictures, I was imagining the adventures that go behind them. A hiking buddy and I were contemplating a trip up Eagle Rocks Prong. I was doing research and "viola!". I would be interested if you could give me a brief trip report and say compare to 3 Forks. There are some very rare trees at the base of the Eagle Rocks Cliffs. They are Heart-Leaved Paper Birches. They are rare South of areas formerly glaciated. They are present in only one place in the National Park and all TN. Me and my hiking bud are ameture Botanists and we love a good off-trail hike in search of hidden botanical treasure. For us, a summer hike as we'll need leaves to help aid in identification. The trees are located on "a talus slope" anything about that ( and I expect many talus slopes ), although I pretty much know what to expect. I'm hoping to find some field reports from UTN on a more precise location. Thanks in advance for any help you could give on the "lay of the land" up there. Tim Fell. gsmnpmtguyot@yahoo.com
