    • Dear Mary Ann, I know we didn't correspond much, but I always think of you. I just got so busy in so many directions, as I'm sure you do too with a full time job. I don't know how you manage it all. I have loved being introduced to the Philippines through your beautiful photos. I see your love sunflower avatar now. Thank you so much for that lovely visit of yours to my sunflower album this past summer. This week has been so sad for me, and thousands of others. It's heart-breaking for our wonderful community to be split up like this. I do want to invite you to join our new community on flickr - flick.com/groups/wscommun ity. Stewart is the administrator and has been a long time WS member. He has done a wonderful job in creating a community where we instantly know many of the people there. We can still make comments and "friends" and also participate in discussions. Stewart is putting together the walks and challenges for us also. Please do come. I'll miss you terribly if not. Regardless, you are an inspiration and a talent. God bless you in all you do. Love, Betty

    • Hello Maryann: I want to say good-bye to you before this site WS as we know it disappears. I have enjoyed your pictures through these years. You have promoted tourism of the Philippines, its beauty and its natural wonders. I will miss all that I hope to find your pictures in another website. Ours at WS is a community nof friends who share the same passion in photography, shared the beauty of the world around us and bridged the gap among peoples by showing the culture and people we met. I say keep on clicking that camera and hopefully I'll see them in another site if there is one that is accessible to the public.

    • Dear Mary An, thank you so much for leaving me a message. Reason why I went to see one of your albums of beautiful Philippines was, that I needed some positive image after watching the Dutch news had send an item on Manilla, showing how slums were cleared to make way for new buildings. It seems news is not meant to cheer me up, webshots holds another atmosphere. kind regards from Holland in fall.

    • MaryAn, I would not call the Philippines a small country, Holland is. In the past week your country has been in my mind very often. Perhaps I should think about Europe and how to deal with the crisis that this part of the world has to deal with, but I have been thinking about that far away country with friendly people, beautiful islands with nature to preserve and hoping that the countrywomen that I estimate so high gets the chance she is deserves. Understanding a person with another culture, in another country and over so many miles sometimes can keep my mind busy. It's always nice to find photos that put a spotlight on the beauty on earth. Thank you for your message, with greetings of happiness

    • Dear Mary Ann! This Catholic Church is 44km from city Van in the East Turkey region.Church of the Holy Cross was built by Armenian masters on the Akdamar island between 915 and 921. Only this church was left from the all ancient city after different historical events, earthquakes and time-related erosion. Of course it has some restoration. The church has a cross plan. An exterior is rich with the plant and animal motifs. The church changes its own color depending of the time of day. Sometimes yellow, sometimes red, sometimes with gray rings. I arrived there in the evening and together with the one scientist from England there were the last visitors there. So I took all my pictures only some time before sunset. Also, thank you for the kind your comments.

    • Dear Mary Ann, Thanks for once again being the first to visit my Long Beach Aquarium album. I specifically took pictures of the Tropical Pacific aquarium fish because I knew that they are colorful and exotic. I had to set my camera at high ISO because it is dark. I also have to shoot at higher speed priority to try and freeze the ever moving fish. So it was really challenging. Thanks for your encouraging remarks. Just like shooting flowers, I am always amazed looking at God's creations. Every one of those fish was created for a specific purpose, including the beaver, of course. From day one, the beaver knows to set up his nesting place to keep warm during upcoming winter. It is in their genes! They did not evolve into what they are. God bless you! Ding

    • Dear Mary Ann, Thanks for visiting my SD Botanic garden in nearby Encinitas. I noticed that my home garden has similar blooms. I have a similar pink bromeliad at home. I really enjoy going out there with Deithree (my Nikon D3). I may return this fall to see what blooms come out. I appreciate the encouraging remarks. By the way, my favorite among the bunch is the twin white daisies! Somehow I knew you'd like them when I took the shot. The SD Botannic garden is very close to Carlsbad Flower mall. Have a great weekend my friend. God bless and Mizpah, Ding

    • Hello Maryan, Over seven million views. Congratulations, this is quite an honor. You do have many great photo albums, and yes, it makes a person want to return. I did make a second trip to check out your photo's. My first trip was a very hurried one, and I had to return. I did comment on your Thank You card to the WS editors for your feature. I thought it was so nice for you to take the time to give thanks to them for a great job done. And,it totally fine for you to comment one my comment....lol. Gets a little confusing sometimes, doesn't it. Especially when YOU have over seven million comments to respond to. So just know, everythings fine. No harm done. I understand totally. Your WS Friend, Patty/Oklahoma

    • Dear Mary Ann, I just visited your album on the windmills and saw your page for the first time. I will come back "to you" as soon as I can to have a look at other albums. I just read a bit of your profile information and like very much what you said about reading "Time Magazine weekly, & the Bible regularly. One is timely, and the other ... timeless!" GREAT!!! God bless!!

    • Dear Mary Ann, Once again I'm almost speechless. Thank you so much for going all the way through my new "walk" in the Chickasaw Recreation Area. Not only have you taken the time to go through my album and make many wonderful comments, but at the same time your own album on the windmills is featured on the Home Page. I can only imagine how busy you must be with many very well deserved comments. I couldn't be happier for you, and am more than amazed that you took time for me. You are so talented and I'm blessed to have you as a friend. ..Betty

    • Dear Mary Ann, I'm at a loss for words. I just barely posted my new sunflower album for the weekend walk and the next day you were already there. I certainly did not need to let you know it was posted. Thank you so much for keeping an eye out. More than that, I am absolutely delighted that you liked the album. I felt somewhat the same as you did with your sentiment that many of those flowers seemed to have their own personality. It seemed to come out while putting the album together. As for the bird scrounging in the harvested field, I don't think it was searching for sunflower seeds since all the sunflower fields around still had the drying sunflowers in the fields. Maybe they let the sunflowers dry out for the seeds. I'm guessing this was a different crop that the egrets liked. Perhaps, and it's just a guess, this is a different crop that may be rotated with the sunflower fields. All that seems to be left in the "egret" fields is are straw-like pieces. Well, the egrets like it anyway. Thank you so very much, my dear Mary Ann, for your lovely comments and compliments. I'm truly honored. ..Betty

    • Dear Mary Ann, I am so glad to hear through your message to me that you love sunflowers. That sunflower picture of yours with the two flowers against the blue sky is beautiful. I haven't yet put it together, but my next album will be a field of sunflowers. I always seem to have two or three albums "in que" so I wanted to let you know about the upcoming sunflower album, though I can't tell you exactly when. It should be by the end of this week, if not, then next week. I don't "promote" my albums. I'm just letting you know since you mentioned your favorite is sunflowers. Have a blessed week, Mary Ann. Your friend, Betty

    • Dear Mary Ann, thanks for visiting my fishing album aboard the Producer. I don't get to do much of the activities I love to do: photography and fishing. So when I did both, it was a blessing indeed. Your encouraging comments are deeply appreciated. God bless you my friend.

    • Hi Mary Ann, I was thinking of you and knew I hadn't been to your albums in a while so I was pleased to travel with you to Dipolog. And thank you so very much, Mary Ann, for your wonderful visit to my Springtime in Dallas album and all your wonderful comments. It was so good to see you again. I can't always get back either, and I know you have a very busy schedule. Have a wonderful week, Mary Ann. Your friend, Betty
