  • I just created a new album called "Collages - Memories". I just finished an album using Tucats' photos. She seemed well pleased. Look at it in your leisure and tell me if I might do something with yours. I won't be offended if you refuse. They are just so beautiful, they deserve any and all recognition.

  • Thank you for your kind words of appreciation of my cats. I have uploaded a special effects picture which you may find funny. I also looked at your quilts and especially liked the baseball quilt and the Indian quilt. You are talented. I have made a few quilts but don't have the patience for it anymore. Your friend, Shirley

  • Hi Gina, Oh my, it's been 2 months since your question! Cockatoos are escape artists! I had a scarlet macaw that had the 'gift' also. The ONLY way I know of limiting the little 'chainsaws' abilities of eating our houses is to put pad locks on EVERY door on their cage. Before we did that, Spike nearly disassembled his cage one nite while we were sleeping. There are 4 access doors on his cage. A free-standing high perch also didn't work with him. He flew to the floor! AND, that was with his wings freshly clipped! During the summer we put spike out on our screened-in porch that looks into my studio, where I spend most of my days. So, he can see me from the porch and is happy to chew up the clothes pins or apple tree branches I give him to keep him busy. Keeping a parrot of any kind busy (kinda like a 2 yr. old) is key. I also have remote controls, minus buttons, etc. The only way I know to keep them from chewing your stuff is to NEVER take your eyes off them. NEVER! I will hold Spike, play with him, cuddle him, etc. THEN back in his cage he goes. Last summer my internet cable connection went dead. No matter what I did, including resetting routers, etc., it stayed dead! Finally, I called my home network computer guru. He spent all day testing all cable connections, equipment, outside cable connections, EVERYTHING! Late afternoon my husband went out on the back porch to feed Spike, our in house chainsaw! It was then he saw the chewed up cable connection cord. So, the short answer to your question is, NEVER leave the cockatoo un-attended outside of their cage! BY THE WAY GINA, been meaning to tell you, I LOVE your new RAGDOLL kitten!

  • Help! How do you keep you Umbrella Cockatoo from eating your house. My son loves his bird but in one second it can turn and eat a remote control behind your back. Fan, Gina :)
