After reading the Webshot's blog on how to do Black and White, I would have to say they are going allowing color conversions to Black and White. Interesting article. Now I under stand some more and can make a more planned approach to the conversion instead of trying certain things until I got what was pleasing to the eye.

Thanks for the comment on the log wall. If you wan to see what a color comparison is, I just put up the color image. It is the next image after the black and white version. In this case it is unique in itself also.

I was just checking out your good entries for the black and white. You are correct, I do not know how they could tell at Webshots if a capture was converted from a color print. I do it a lot for effect because some things just look more appropriate in black and white like my old barns and buildings. I am just in a wait and see as to what they are going to do by not announcing the details of this challenge's rules. They can come up with some strange things sometimes. Sometimes people read them differently than the judges do. I noticed several people commenting on the rules and the clarity. Maybe they have listened and are going to try and make things real clear. Good luck in the challenge.

Thanks for visiting my "Walk around the Golden Spike" and for your comment... In my caption I had difficulty deciding whether to write "Gold", Yellow" or "Orange" ... or even whether to mention the color vs the name. A few months ago, while writing an article for the United Airlines Retiree's newsletter I discovered the Golden Gate Bridge was named for the channel it spans ... "The Golden Gate". I'd never considered that before... I do feel the cost of constantly repainting (orange ;-) the Golden Spike would be prohibitive for a tourist attraction. Marv (BerryMan)
