Hi Lori, Thank you for your message and I have sent some photos to my home page of the dust storm in Alice Springs. I did not take them but thought they would be nice to share. Unfortunately I am not a hot weather person as the humidity is horrendous on the coast I just like our in between season Autumn and winter as the temperature is pretty well stable and no winter gear to clutter us up with. Take care Kaye

Hi Lori, thanks for the nice comment. To answer your question concerning the location of the painted desert, that particular picture was taken just north of the I-40 east of Holbrook, AZ. The painted desert stretches across a good portion of north-eastern AZ. If you ever get a chance to visit the Petrified Forest NP of AZ, you'll be able to see different color variations of the painted desert. BTW, Utah is such a gorgeous state as well. I've been through various southern and eastern parts a couple of times and I really loved it there. AZ and Utah are like siblings when it comes to some of the greatest scenery in the Southwest. Thanks again and best wishes to you and your family. -Stewart

Hi Lori! Sorry that you aunt passed away. I've been looking at the Obituaries in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and haven't been able to find her name. Here's a link to the newspaper, maybe you will see it in the next few days--I'll keep looking also. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/stltoday/ Sometimes, people don't even put the notices in the newspaper anymore--it costs an "arm and a leg" for just a few words. Sorry I couldn't find it! Hugs, Sharon

Many thanks, Lori, for your most kind words of congratulations on my POTD hummingbird shot. Much appreciated! I'm honoured that you would call what I do a gift. Meanwhile, we're facing a hurricane here, and I hope these birds don't blow out to sea in the high winds. ~ Brenda

Dear Lori, I have just entered the National Geographic photo contest with six of my shots and am letting my WS friends know. I'll give you a link to three (I believe you can search for others), and would appreciate it if you could take a look. There is a people's choice award, based on voting by the public, as well as the judges' selections. The cougar shot seems to be my top vote-getter so far. The two cats playing are next - they're my Manx rescues, Gollum and Aragorn. That shot was here on WS and recently won a best-in-show at a local photo exhibition contest. The hummingbird is one of many from my garden. But the NG competition is huge, with thousands of entries, so mine will get lost in the crowd. I just figured I might as well try, just to see if people like my work. Enjoy! ~ Brenda http://www.worldinfocuscontest.com/bin/Rate?image_id=1006807530 and http://www.worldinfocuscontest.com/bin/Rate?image_id=1006807532 and http://www.worldinfocuscontest.com/bin/Rate?image_id=1006807528

Hi Lori, you are welcome to come and see my garden anytime!! But I think you would be a little disappointed, as it is very small and a lot of our flowers are in containers on the fence, on the patio etc. But we love it that way and it give us a chance to garden a little. I love your comments and your albums, thanks for visiting, hugs, Trudy

Hi Lori. Thanks for your comments. The river in question emties into the Fraser River. The Fraser Canyon is the origonal access to the Okanogan and points east in Canada. Our Highway #1 and both main railways run through here. It's olso one of the hottest spots in the country. And it's only three hours drive from Vancouver. Darrell

Lori, believe it or not... I just read your comment from 2 years ago. I checked out your albums and I must say I have nothing on you. I basically quit looking at webshots, because I got involved with work and trying to expand a digital photography business. I would never ignore a message that was kind and complimentary as yours are. Take care, and I'm posting usually at www.mainlinephotography.n et That is my website. Take care, and keep shooting all that great stuff.

Hi Lori! Thanks so much for your sweet message. You always know how to make me smile and cheer me up! I loved that shot this week of your son with the silly glasses on. He reminded me, in actions, of my brother when we were growing up. Hugs, Sharon

Hi Lori, it was so wonderful to hear from you. Been a long time. thankyou for the glowing comments on my trip to Ore.......and yes, that is why I love Ore. too.....the natural plant growth is so outstanding. And then of course the fact of having some children and grandpeeps living there. Every time we go I find myself saying..."look Geo. that place is for sale", etc. etc. but we know from experience that the damp weather reeks havoc on our bones. After a trip to the coast in the early 90's during winter we took to calling each other Mr. and Mrs. Gimp, ooch, ouch, ooch. I am still makeing album from the trip...1166 photos....you know how it is......as your one album says....Just take the picture.....Love, Di

Hi Lori, Thanks for looking at my 2nd Colorado Mountains album. Did you see the first one? I think it's the best one. Anyway, you ask why we went there for vacation. We went there, because we hadn't been there before! We've been to Yellowstone, Glacier and Canada Mountains about 4 times and needed a change. As it turns out, we like the Northern Rockies better and would probably go back there again. Much more to see and do. Thanks a lot for looking! Love n hugs, Sharon
