About Me more
Hi, welcome to a glimpse of what I enjoy around me. My favorite past times are watching and photographing our pets and what Mother Nature offers, namely birds, flowers, and scenic landscapes.

The mulch is around the breeders so we don't have to weed so much. It also helps to sustain the moisture. We even have a drip hose wound throughout the breeders as they are more expensive, and you wouldn't want to lose them. We only had to use it the first year when were small. Drought doesn't seem to bother them now. They are really hardy plants. Most perennials are which is why it is about all we plant. The garden is too large to water so they are on their own and do very nicely. Joan

We grow our daylilies in a field, the latest ones in the remains of where a junk yard stood. You can still find glass, doorknobs, nuts, bolts, etc. People try to reason out why there is glass in the rows; to keep the birds away or some such thing. After that it was a horse pasture for my daughter's horse. It is very good soil, however, the horse probably had more to do with it than the junk yard. We do not fertilize, the size is dependent on the parents. I suppose the good soil does help. People have said we live in a little bit of heaven. We thought so also when we named it hosta heaven, of course, that was before daylilies. It is even more beautiful now. Thanks so much for your wonderful comments and thoughtful questions. Always glad to have people visit and ask questions. Hope I answered them. Joan

Thank you for the comment on my Cherry blossem C C entry. I looked your's up as well. It looks like we both had the same idea. I like your macro one best. I also looked as some of your albums. It must have taken a lot of patience to do the garden critters album. Good Luck.

Thank you so much for your visit to Lola's album. The only time I get a good photo of her eyes is outside in the shade. I usually get red-eye in spite of my camera settings. I took a look at your cat's album and you sure do have a lot of cuddly pets. Have a wonderful week. Gloria

Hello Mary! Tahnk you so much for the wonderful comments on my 'rose collage' album. We love our flower gardens, but it is the roses that have won our hearts.

Thanks for visiting our daylily hybridizing album. Yes, it is a lot of work. We have planted the 1800 we grew from seed this January. With all the rain we have had, they are growing nicely along with all the weeds. We hope to put pictures of last year's seedlings' flowers on the computer this year, so you might want to revisit in mid July. Joan
