I see you have had your hands full with the spammers. If I get them, it is usually just those ringtone things, and block user..don't get that many, but when I do, it is usally all on the same day. I am sorry for not getting back to some viewing of your albums, but I was away all summer, then had a heart attack, and had a stent put in..doing fine now, so when I rest, I can catch up with WS friends albums.

Hi Jacques. I just spent $$$ trying to clean up my computer from the spammers/virus hackers. Delete anyone from your "fans" and don't open any mail from webshots even if it's from friends too. "volvob12" had an Idea to block the spammers that sounds like a good compromise . At least until webshots can come up with something better . Block links in messages . Just on the photo messages area. The spammers don't seem to be going to people's main message area , just on the photo's area . Sounds like a simple solution . Maybe if we all suggest this in mass to webshots we could get rid of all the spammers . What do you think ? ( I'm sending this note to several concerned members )

Go into people----then fans. Anyone who has a logo probably isn't a webshots photographer. Personally I deleted all fans. Some I asked to be friends when I saw they were real photographers. Not sure if this is all worth it. I quite this site years ago when I got a virus from using the Desktop manager. I only came back when I bought a new camera and met some great people.

I found you on Webshots because I visited the page of someone who left a comment on one of my photos. Actually, it was a nice comment and I didn't suspect spamming, which I have gotten a LOT of in the past 3 weeks or so (and for the first time ever). The reason I am posting a comment here because I came to see your profile, after you had posted a message on this person's page, calling them a spammer and the 'invitation' to go look at your profile. I am so glad I did, cause I have gotten the best laugh of the day in reading it. YOu have cracked me up, my friend! CONCERNING SPAMMERS... Thank you for your message, what I did to get the spamming stopped on my photos I changed my settings on my account. Click on account, new window opens, click on “Options and Privacy” Under “Photo Message Board Permissions:” Click on “only friends can post.” I have had several people ask to be friends, before I accept them as a friend I check to see if they have albums up, and I look at a few. And also see how long they have been a member of web shots. The spammers do not have albums up and are new members. Hope this will help you with your spamming problem, it has mine.

Hi there. Further to the spamming issue, I sent a note to Webshots today about another issue: that of advertising links on site, being a threat to one's computer. On my profile page today, two advertising links, URLs were blocked by my anti-virus software as being a "Threat". "Phishing" was mentioned, but it maybe something else too. I advise everyone to write to WS to tell them that it is not acceptable to place these links on our pages because of possible danger to us, not to mention the bandwidth these links to advertisers are taking up. **NB: these links are there whether you sign-in or not and whether one is a paid or free member.
