Hi Klempner Love the photos of Monks quarry. Can you tell me where it is I'd love to visit it. BTW I lived in Wroughton, years ago. I used to deliver newspapers to Wroughton airbase, when it was still an airbase! Cheers

Today I visited Wroughton to take a look at the RAF hospital as I was born there in 1947 but moved when I was 5. I was SO disappointed to find nothing there!! Imagine how pleased I was to see your photos 'it was unbelievable and made my day .Thank you

Ah its a small world my partner works in Wroughton near the science museum.Hes an WW11 aviation artist (amatuer)and is well into old things lol like the old buildings you photograph but his thing is looking around old airfields especially if they have any buildings still standing and if theres a control tower he's in his element, loves a good ghost story reckons he senses dead airmen, well everyone to their own I suppose as long as they dont bother me they can go haunt who they like.

Hello there I used to go to the Hreod Parkway school some time ago now, It was many years ago. I enjoyed your pictures very much! They brought back a lot of happy memories to myself and for that I am thankful. You have pictures of the places we were never allowed to roam, Staff room ect. The sense of abandonment looked scary. I would like to ask you two things, Would it be possible to have a folder with all these pictures in? I would use them for personal use and reminiscing. I would not share them or use them inappropriately. It was good to see the school again as it is no longer there! I have many great stories to tell of that school as I spent 5 years of my life there. Please help me. I know you may not want to scare your fantastic pictures but I would really like to have a copy of them for old times sake. Thank you so much! Please get back to me when possible. Kind regards Robert Skinner Email: robertskinner2004@yahoo.c o.uk

Greetings Stu, Thank you for all of the kind wonderful comments on my photos and albums. I love to take photos of everything as do 2 of my daughters. The most recent shots(after April 2007) taken with the HP733 were shot by my 12 year old daughter Aubrienna, I bought the Sony in April 2007, prior to that the HP733 shots were taken by me... the Bernarr Macfadden album was shot by my daughter Alicea on her recent trip to N.Y. State, she also took all of the Sony photos on the trip to Wyoming (Wyoming trip part 1 June 2008) as I was driving the car, once we arrived I took over the camera.... I still have not posted the Wyoming, Utah, Arizona shots taken by Aubrienna on her HP733, but will be posting them soon... the nice thing about digital is all of the practice without wasting film... I think my kids have a good eye with a camera... this last trip to Wyoming (July-Aug 2008) was nice as my husband got to go along and he drove the car, I took 1493 shots round trip. I have really enjoyed viewing your shots, you have a keen eye and I see you enjoy recording some unusual images, very nice... I hope you and your better half enjoy your trip to the U.S. later this year, it will be chilly, possibly snowy at the grand canyon when you visit, should make for some remarkable photo opts though, I look forward to seeing your albums from the trip when you post them... Best regards, Christina

Dear Mr Klempner Sorry it has taken me a while to answer your note. Yes, I was able to go into the building at Auschwitz. It was very sobering to stand right inside the gas chamber & see the ovens. No one smiled the whole day there. Don't know why they don't have it open now, but it was completely open at that time. Byron

Hi Thank you very much for your comments to my pictures, it is nice to get some feed back. You are totally right visiting places like Auswitch or other Concentration Camps hit me deeply and it did made some chances inside really to be at the places You have heard so much about. Seeing things make a difference - and made me see how cruel and evil mankind can be. It is though a visit worth to pay respect to the people that suffered and died there and most importent not to forget. I might have been lucky to be there in summertime when I looked at things you did not see in wintertime. Tha waggons was placed in the midle between Birkenau and Auswitch on a railroad track but not that easy to find. Yes You have to visit Schindlers factory - it is a visit worth. At last - I must admit that I have not manipulatet the pictures from Auswith entrence - but I have removed 3 - 4 cars. I think I was lucky to come early before the big rush of visitors came. Anyway I will take a look at your pictures - your theme is one I use in my own town in Denmark - to photograph old buildings before the will be knocked down. So I think your albums will be interesting for me. Nice trip to Krakow next year.

Hi I was wondering if you might be able to help me out, I am working on a project that requires photographic imagery of and around swindon, and you have taken quite a few images from the Brunel tower, I wanted your permission to use parts of these images in creating textures of buildings around the town, Kind Regards Mark Rendermedia ltd

Hi, You left a message on one of my Egypt balloon pictures asking how many the basket of the balloon held and how long were you up in the air. The balloons are massive and hold about 24 people. We were lucky in that there were only about 16 people in ours so there was quite a bit of room. I guess we were up in the air for about an hour. Shop around for the best deal - we got a big discount by going around the different travel shops and eventually paid half the price we were first asked (and half as much as most of the rest in the balloon). Have a great trip and I'm you you'll enjoy the ballon flight (even if you do have to get up about 4am !!!

Love your photos of Swindon from the DMJ! Wow what a view. Ive been in this building several times but never to the top, dont think im brave enough. Its pretty sad to see the photos of all the old buildings being pulled down ie PMH, the college, Police Station and Davis House. Just hope they are replaced with something more pleasing to the eye. As long as they dont look like Plaza 21 or the new Paramount building - yuck.

Hi Stu, The sad thing is that until I saw your pictures I had not even realised that they had closed Pyestock. I have lived in Australia since 2001 and have only been back to the UK once since then (and not to Hants). Did you find the anechoic chamber on your travels? It was towards the back of the site (i.e. towards the M3) and was a large building that I think stood on its own. Inside it was completely lined with angular foam and if you stood in there and spoke, someone would only hear you if they were in front of you. Somewhere in one of my boxes I have a couple of official photos that were taken while I was there. If I can ever find them I will see if I can scan them. One is of a 1920s Ruston Steam Engine that was brought on site and put next to the Ruston marine diesel engine. The other is a group staff shot in front of one of the control desks. Cheers, Eddie

Thanx for leaving the info...naturally we didnt get permission to look round Pyestock but the place is a marvel...last time I went in I found a colour manual giving a guide as to what Pyestock did..the sort of thing that clients would be shown..it is a mine of info with tech drawings etc and pics of people at the control desks..it has pride of place on my book shelf natch! Its real pleasure to get comments from a person who actually worked here. regards from Stu

Love the Pyestock pictures - I used to work there, but of course we were not allowed to take cameras on site. Added details about dcs_0189 in Pyestock revisited. Cheers, Eddie
