    • Now Playing "Ra Paul, Egyptian God of Sunburn!" See the top of Paul's album page! And "Just say 'No!' to college teachers on summer vacation." They are worse for you than hard drugs!

    • You asked of the "Hesperus": "But where's the captain's daughter, bound to the mast??" You do know your literary allusions. I'm impressed. I tried to draw her in but every time I tried the tears streamed down my face and shorted out my keyboard....Paul

    • We have a stream 8 feet below our basement. It is the source for our water which is great. It has never dried up in almost 200 years.

    • Janice, For a real digital hoot, check out my "Microwave Oven Computer Saver" in my brand new "Computer Savers" album! Expand it to full size and save as your screen saver! Then watch the reactions of people who walk by, preferably while you're in hiding....

    • Audrey and I were reunited after 60 years of having no idea where the other was. We were 3000 miles apart.

    • Janice, You wrote, the "mutant squirrels" could move down to the Capitol Building and find all the nuts they could ever want!!," "giant hosta eating slugs," and "irradiated chicken." And you laughed out loud at "Unaware that the Age of King Crab had begun, the people loitered...." You are so much fun! Thanks for your extraordinary visit and numerous, marvelous comments on my recent winning albums! Ponderosa Paul

    • Hi Janice. Thank you for your lovely note. It was nice hearing from you. I note that you are running that fine line deer gauntlet as we are here. First we had a doe that liked roaming about our yard and trampled my giant pumpkin plant, ate the tops out of the lettuce heads, and zucchini plants. They apparently don't like cabbage, brussel sprouts, or broccoli at all. She had a set of twins, then another doe or so joined the herd. I put up barricades and old fan blade protectors over the lettuce so we had lettuce. I managed to protect the pie pumpkin plant so I had 6 of those. As soon as deer season started, I haven't seen a one of them. Next spring will tell the story. I only know I'm not going to all that work for their dinner. I'll just catch photos as I can of them. Have a good winter. Donna

    • Per your inquiry on the flooding. I live just north of Kingston, and I am out of the flooding area. I lost power during both Hurricane Irene and Lee for 12 and 15 hours. So in general I was OK. The Catskills are indeed a mess. Hopefully the residents can get some of their lives restored before winter, but I fear it will never be the same for many. There was so much destruction, and the roads and bridges are still very bad or closed in many areas.

    • Hi Janice, Thanks for your visit to my photos. If you want to try light patterns you need a tripod. Tightly compose the photos on the ride as it moves. Review your photos on the LCD screen of the digital camera, and adjust the shutter speed until you get a pleasing amount of blur. You may also want to adjust the exposure compensation, as some images work better under or over exposed a bit. There is much trial and error as you get started. Also: web search "Kodak tech pub AC-61" which has good exposure info. My recommendation is to set digital cameras one stop under the film suggestion. e.g. use Kodak's ISO 200 recommendation for digital ISO 100.

    • Is that fish in the trench located in the lower left swimming off picture plane to the left. Is the fish orange with a white tooth and black eye? Thanks you for seeing!

    • Janice, Your words continue to capture the essence of things at the same time they liberate the imagination of the artist and viewer. I can't tell you how grateful I am for your comments. Every time I think about tuning out, turning off, dropping in...you come along and rejuvenate me! What are "actions" and how did the designers miss out on the Western art colors?

    • Janice, I opened my e-mail and hit the jackpot. There you were, strong and wild-eyed as ever. I titled, attributed and dedicated too many images in that album to name here. I also moved a few (that you hadn't given comments to) to other more standard albums. Thanks for making my day! Paul

    • Hi Janice - thanks for your comment on my snowy trees in Garrett Mtn. and also for asking about my status in flooded NJ. Unfortunately I live right in a bad flood zone so it has been hard. I personally am dry - the flooding came within 3 blocks of me - but there is water everywhere. i will be posting my flood photos later today. but thanks so much for asking. during this time when you are surrounded everywhere by water I feel a bit isolated and forgotten so it was nice to know you thought of me. jane

    • Janice, The two million "top 60 Billboard hits" is now up and running! I pulled all my pictures from the "1000 most popular" images in Digital Art and created a commemorative album. Looking at the messages below the images, you are always there. You are my Number One Visitor, Title Author, and Impresario at Webshots. Thanks for the incredible amount of time, energy, intelligence and wit you have devoted to this endeavor! Gratefully, Paul Ewing

    • Hi Janice, I've really appreciated all the positive feedback you've given me recently in the form of stories, lyrics and, especially, titles I can use for the images. If you go back to where you recently visited, you'll see many new titles attributed and dedicated to you! Oh, I'm about 8,000 hits away from two million so there will be some kind of celebratory album coming along. I wonder if WS will recognize me like they did tfm446 or if I'm persona non grata for some reason. "I have not now nor never have I been a member of the Communist Party...." Paul
