Good Evening Sir.
Your photo "Brickend barn with cowboy on horse" - Greencastle Pa. could benefit from some local perspective.
I've been seeing this barn since I was a very young lad, and I know the story behind it.
It is not a horse, and the rider is not a cowboy. He is not wearing a cowboy hat, he is wearing a dunce cap. The barn builder who constructed this monument to overblown ego was a true artist, and had he wanted the hat to look like a cowboy hat to would have looked so.
The ears on the mule are one row of bricks longer than a horses ears would be.
When the barn was nearly completed, the owner, who had a thoroughly inflated opinion of his importance, exercised extremely bad judgment when he browbeat the builder in front of his crew, and then rode off on an important business activity.
When he returned the barn was completed, but the top of the gable end didn't display the "Gentleman Farmer astride his handsome steed" as the working drawings showed. Rather in its place was a buffoon wearing a dunce cap riding a mule.
It is obvious who had the last laugh.
Awesome collection of Historic Barns. If you ever make it to Wisconsin, I encourage you to check out the 1903 Chase Stone Barn in Oconto Cty (near Green Bay). I have an album on webshots, but you can also see it on www.townofchase.org.
Howdie Bill, nice to see a recent photo of yours. That Siberian Tiger shot is gorgeous! Couldn't find the comment box under it, so headed over here to hale you. Charlotte
Hi,
I found the photo of the brick end barn that you captioned that it was located in PA. I am doing a reseach project for our local library and it would be great to know where it is located.
Also, I'm glad I found your Webshots page. You have lots and lots of interesting photos. I have some albums but your photos are definitely high quality.
Thanks for any information you can provide on the brick end barns.

Round barn in Boone County-Indiana--I live in Crown Point-Indiana--I moved off the farm we had for 47 year's in 2000.
In the middle 1990's,as I stepped into the enclosed back porch one day,I heard a thump-bump,"up on the roof".
Then, a final thump.I looked outside to see what I already suspected it was,for I realized the source of the sound's to be on the roof. The only thing up there it could be was part of the cement block chimney.
Sure enough, there on the ground outside was at least a 5 pound piece. The reason for my note here is that I contemplated the need for something to concievably protect from such an event.
I began thinking of having a flat areas around the chimney,so as to catch a piece, etc.Even most metal extension's can rust over time and could fall down.(maybe brass would endure)
Seeing the house in Boone County it certainly seem's someone, somewhere, did do just that.??
I can send a photo of the 1911 cement block house if you like.----64kj4949b3a@sbcg lobal.net

Hi Bill, Thanks for the message on our Craigivar Castle album. We are very fortunate to have so many castles in such a small country. Our history was indeed a bloody one. I am sorting our photos from Hermitage Castle at the moment. It was built in what became "the bloodiest valley in Britain" (despite fierce competition for the title no doubt). Could you please post a link in my "Messages" to your own album with the castles in in? I'd love to see them. I've bookmarked your albums for when I've got more time. Thanks in anticipation.
Hello.
I work for a non-profit and I'm looking for artwork for a quick handout. I really like your picture of Amish Barn Raising - Swarming All Over. Is there any chance I could get permission to use it in a printed handout and give you credit? My email address is bethanee.esqueda@oregonag .org.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello-
I am a pianist and am preparing a cd with music of Charles Ives. I came across the photo of Brick Barn - Saint Marys County MD- c 1800 and thought it would make a wonderful cover image for the cd. Would it be possible to use the image? Can you send me an email so that we can be in contact about this? My email is h_odonnell@yahoo.com.
Thanks, Heather
Hello,

Hi Bill, Nice to hear from you and thanks for your interest in my fractals. They are fun to make and maybe even a little addicting. I downloaded five different fractal-making programs and then use my Paint Shop Pro to enhance or manipulate them. Now that summer is here and I can be out running I probably won't be doing much fractalizing. Take care my friend, DeeAnne :)
Hello there, I was wondering if there was any way to purchase your photos or in some other way acquire them, I like to collect images of barns and I found many of your excellent, please let me know Nolan0535@hotmail.com
Hello Heyburn3. I am wondering if you can give me some information about one of your photos? The photo is labeled "Victorian Painted Lady - One Post Upper Level Porch - Lafayette IN" and it resides in your Victorian Painted Ladies album. I need to know the address of this house. I can clearly see the house number, but can you tell me what street it is on? I know thsi photo is dated in 2005 and you probably can't remember, but I had to try. I am also an architect and this house was designed by George F. Barber, an architect I am researching. Any help would be appreciated. You can contact me at crdimattei@verizon.net Thanks.

Hello heyburn3. I would love to discuss the round barn in Lowell Vermont with you. My father and his several brothers grew up on this farm. It has since been torn down. It was falling apart and apparently the owners at that time saw no need to restore and preserve it! Any chance I could get copies of the photos? I would pay for them. My father has none except for a watercolor that someone did of the barn years ago. Please contact me at: regfox@yahoo.com Best regards, Morgan Foxworth
