Hi John - couple of things in common. I am Adam Gardiner and served on 249 Venom Squadron at El Adem in 1957 and on 202 Met Recon Sqn (Hastings Met 1) in 1959 - 62. I own a nice painting of a Met 1 returning from a long range Bismuth sortie which is possibly unique and would swap you a good jaypeg for one of your painting if you own the copyright.

Hi, could you tell me how i could print some of the photos of the hastings, As my father was a A Q M on 48 sq 1959 -1962. from his log book he flew in lot of the planes in your photos. inc tg579 from 19-10-59 to 16-11-59 also fl/lt scott was the pilot in tg520 on 10-12-59 . He sadly passed away in 2004. In 1956 he was at Abingdon, 1/1/57 to 10/6/59 he was at Colerne. Thankyou

Gary" I've been keeping an eye on the Hastingsgan Site since I went Broadband a few months ago and of course,find much to remind me of our residence in Kat.I too have loads of photos and Ektachrome Slides recording 2.5 years of life at Katunayake.They feature lots of our fellow "inmates",aircr aft parked at S.A.S.F.,Jungle Rescue Team on excercise at Bible Rock,aerial pics. of Colombo taken from a D.H.Tiger Moth Flown out of Ratmalana by L.A.C.(R.Cy.A.F.)Lionel Goonatilik(spelling?) me being a rather apprehensive passenger.The Moth flew itself off the grass alongside the the notoriously rough runway.However,what leaves the ground should arrive back on the same airfield in one piece.And we did; I'v photos to prove it.Next task is get the photos onto my P.C. This is a real plea for help. Some time back I found a cartoon of 103MU somewhere on the web. By a roundabout way I got in touch with the original owner to ask for a good quality copy and permission to use it in the 103MU Reunion Group Newsletter.I cannot remember who or where, but have found it on your photo gallery, so it may well have been here that I originally found it. In August our main server went real "belly up" and I lost all the emails including backups and all the data that I received between April and August. April was the last time I backed up onto DVD and tape. Can you put me in touch with the originator again, if it was you that I asked in the first place, so that I can go on bended knee and request a further copy of the Xmas card or more importantly, the cartoon. Only just found this site - we lived nearly 4 years in Negombo at Katunayake - I returned there 2005 and got permission to go in to Katunayake, I think you may have been there just after us (I was 14 when we came home in 1956) on the Empire Orwell, went to Sri Lanka from Singapore on the Windrush. I found the Cinema, Swimming Pool, School and our bungalow still being used, nothing changed, have put photos on "my album" and will put more from early 1950's when I can.
