  • Hey Marisa, thanks for the note - sorry about your family problems. I was thinking something might have been wrong. Am happy to see your photos of Tuscany - gorgeous as usual. Did you stay in a villa? What town was it in? Was it great to be with your whole family? Am jealous about your Dolomites trip - definitely on my agenda (not the hiking part though!). Might be going to Costa Rica in December but it's still up in the air. Planning an African safari for next year sometime, maybe June (my friend's "big" birthday celebration-her choice) and waiting to hear what part of Italy my brother and his family want to go to next August. I was actually hoping for a few days in the north - my grandfather is from Cortina D'Empezzo - in the Dolomite area. Who knows. Great to hear from you. Lorraine (NYC)

  • Hey Marisa, Wow - checking back here and I still see no activity for a while. Is everything ok? Did you ever make it to Tuscany with your family? I hope so but I don't see any photos - not like you at all. Hopefully you are just busy. I am leaving for Sardinia on Friday. Will post my photos probably first week of september. Wishing you well. Lorraine (NYC)

  • Hey Marisa! Yes still going to Sardinia - finalized the hotels this week now we are working on our flights inside Italy. The euro is going to kill us but we're still going...Are you still going to Tuscany with your family? Lorraine (NYC)

  • Hey Marisa - thanks for the congrats on my Egypt album being featured. YEAH!!! I am so thrilled - it was such a great trip - and it still keeps giving....Have my next trip (at least the flights) booked for Sardinia, Italy this August. Trying to find hotel recommendations - it's hugely expensive - I thought Ischia was bad...ever been there? Lorraine (NYC)

  • Where's next? That's an excellent question and one that I can't answer yet, but I'm working on it. Macchu Picchu, Russia (St. Petersburg & Moscow), Croatia and an African Safari are all in the running. My brother is going to Sardinia in August - haven't decided yet if I'm joining him. Going to Egypt really raises the vacation bar so high - even Italy doesn't pales in comparison, despite the awesome food! What's next for you? Lorraine (NYC)

  • Dear friend Marisa! It was a big surprise for me see my photo POTD awarded yesterday for two reasons: first, because most of the award-winning photos are often beautiful landscapes of Mother Nature and not an 'abstract artistic expression' and second because it is for me the first time, since becoming a member of Webshot, in achieving this high honour. After seeing the awarded pic many wondered: what is this? However, say what really is, not meant to enjoy the artistic expression but, in order to kill the understandable curiosity of the visitors I would say that the picture was taken in a sculptures exhibition in honor of Don Quixote, here in my city of Alcala de Henares. Of course the picture doesn't show the total statue; it is only a very small part of it with a dramatic contrast of colours as background. I have two albums under the title Art photos. In them I want to share with you my personal experience that Art can be seen anywhere if we have enough capability to combine our emotions with what we see. A specific thing that caused to me a specific and deep emotion: that's "the rule" A simple application of Pablo Picasso statement "Art is not the application of a canon of beauty but what the instinct and the brain can conceive beyond any canon. When we love a woman we don't start measuring her limbs" THANKS for your visit, THANKS for your comment and THANKS for your support. Hugs. Manuel

  • Hey Marisa, thanks for the note on my Positano album. We stayed at the Hotel Marincanto, mostly because of the views - they were spectacular. Can't wait to see the Pyramdis - it's been a lifelong dream. Going to try to setup a hot-air baloon ride over Luxor while we're there too. Greece is fantastic - the bluest blues I've ever seen. The Plaka in Athens has great shopping and great photo ops - especially the sponges. Enjoy! You're my hero. Sounds like you're getting creamed in the weather department - keep thinking about Greece - that'll certainly help you through it! Lorraine (NYC)

  • Hey, thanks Marisa - I've been so busy and I took SOOO many photos it took me a while to get at least the Paris photos up on webshots. We went to Ischia, Ravello and Positano in Italy. This was a fabulous trip - with different aspects - high end and local - we loved it all. I will try to get them up this week. Lorraine (NYC)

  • Thanks so much, Marisa, for your generous comment on my recent challenge winner and subsequent POTD. The thrill of this experience has not abated yet! Several members have asked about this photo, so here's the low down. No, I didn't hang on the wing of the plane as some have suggested, but I WAS blessed with the cleanest windows in my entire flying career, just spotless! Though the atmosphere near the ground at takeoff was very dirty, as we ascended from Denver to Salt Lake City, the air got very clear and clean, another blessing. This shot was made over Utah, I think, but it could be Colorado you're seeing, so residents of both states can probably claim this interesting landscape. Farmers who patiently coax crops from this extremely hostile land with a combination of irrigation and perspiration have my undying respect. Again, thanks so very much for your support and kindness; both are appreciated more than you know. Regards, Fred
