    • Hi! Thank you for letting me know of Ray's passing. I feel like I lost such a read friend. He and I have been in contact since 2002, he was such a dear man and I bet his family misses him tremendiously.

    • HI Gary, Just saw your message re my "Grimme" album from a year ago (obviously I havn't been in webshots for awhile). Enjoyed your Album(s), fascinating. Is a coincidence - was just speaking with my Uncle (92) - My paternal great-great- Grandfather & relatives moved here in the 1830s. Have been told the family is from Darmstaadt & Hannover. Have enjoyed seeing Grimme, Germany in Google Earth. They settled in Brookville Indiana - ended up in Indianapolis via Tipton, IN. Maternal side is from Belfast, Ireland. Thanks for the info ... • Hi Gary! It would have been an honor and pleasure to have had you as a wingman flying anything, Corsairs, wildcats, Hellcats, Bearcats, Pannthers, Phantoms or anything else! Ray

    • RE Pobreys Lunch. Blackie apparently wasn't there. He usually sat on the kleft side of the photo and is not in the photo. It waa an unusually small group that day. Ray

    • Hi Gary! Thanks for dropping by in my Keukenhof album. Why did photo no 70 remind you of Dorthy and the wizard of Oz? Interesting albums, especially the one on captain Cheatham! Greetings Anna Oldenhave, The netherlands

    • The Orlando photo was at some swimming pool at the Motel or Hotel we stayed at. We were stationed at Deland NAS flying the Wildcat for Operational training and these are my flight pilots. Our Instructor was from Sacramento and had dated Margareat Whiting at some time or another before his Naval service, I think.

    • TAhank ayou for the comment on the SB2C-5 Curtis Helldiver photo. Several of my friends flew it and liked tahe -5 but hated the earliet versions. When released to the Nave it had over 1000 changes to various parts. manyt of them hydrolic. Cdr Harold Buell has a wonderful book about his ww2 combat titled 'auntless Heldivers'. Several historians have said it is the best Carrier WW2 Cmbat action book they have found. If you would like a copy you can call him and he will send you a copy for $25 which includes the shipping. Everyone I have recomended it to has liked it very much. You would enjoy talking to him and he could tell you wha it was like to fly The Beast, as it was also sometimes called [ among severl other unflattering comments]. If you wish to call him then email me at mccoyray@aol.com and put SB2C or Helldiver in the Subject so I won't delete your mail. THe bookis privately printed and can only be purchased at this price through him. Ray
