Charlie - I am originally from Lewiston (40+ yrs) & know WNY VERY well, and miss it a LOT. I wish I could take this property & plop it down somewhere in NY ! I love my property here, but the culture, food, & weather are all ^%$# IMHO. This time of year I am especially Homesick. As a long-standing Science teacher & all-around Nature nerd I have no serious fear of any critters, but do give the venomous ones their space. I had really never met any wild snakes until I moved here, but I have now ! I love the Black Racers & the Corn snakes. As pets I have LOTS of rescued critters, & in NY I had my Wildlife Rehabber certification (not hard to get BTW, if you're interested). My biggest cat is Hoss (in my arms in my photo) at 25 lbs, and my littlest (full grown) is Karen at 6. The oldest I ever had one live was Leahcim at 20 years - and in that I hold my family record. You still live in WNY ? I'll trade ! - Pat

Hello Charlie.....Thank you for your recent visit to my Small Town USA album and for your kind comment in my guestbook. I too love the small towns and the values in them. I didnt come from one......I grew up in NYC....but I am in a small one in Rural Pa now. I've always loved the country and its small towns. Hi Charlie!!! Thanks sooooooo much for your thoughtful and so complimentary comment on my lonely leaf photo!!! I'm so glad you liked it!! We'd just arrived up at the cabin. I pulled open the drapes and there that little leaf was ... all ready for me! In fact, i didn't even take my coat off ... grabbed the camera bag, snatched up the camera and started snapping away. I probably took a dozen pictures of that one leaf!! And didn't unload the car until I was done!!! Sometimes, the picture finds YOU, doesn't it?? Thank you again!! I do find rural life fun to photograph and you're right, folks are so very anxious to share their piece of the world with us as we park our cars and begin touring Main Street, Rural America.
