It's amazing how much New York spends on Bolt Castle, and yet hasn't made Fort Montgomery a park. Go figure. Were you on a special tour when you took the pictures? This doesn't seem to be the easiest way to communicate. You can find me at http://www.myspace.com/sc_marty. Thanks for accepting me as a friend. Good luck posting all those pics.

Hello Charlie.....Thank you for your recent visit to my Small Town USA album and for your kind comment in my guestbook. I too love the small towns and the values in them. I didnt come from one......I grew up in NYC....but I am in a small one in Rural Pa now. I've always loved the country and its small towns. I worked the weeks in the city and ran away to the country on the weekends until finally, two years ago I moved out here. Your great comment was sincerely appreciated. Regards....John

Hi Charlie!!! Thanks sooooooo much for your thoughtful and so complimentary comment on my lonely leaf photo!!! I'm so glad you liked it!! We'd just arrived up at the cabin. I pulled open the drapes and there that little leaf was ... all ready for me! In fact, i didn't even take my coat off ... grabbed the camera bag, snatched up the camera and started snapping away. I probably took a dozen pictures of that one leaf!! And didn't unload the car until I was done!!! Sometimes, the picture finds YOU, doesn't it?? Thank you again!! I'm going to have to spend some time with your photos ... sounds like you're someone who can teach me a lot!! Many thanks again ... i do appreciate your visit and comments so much!! Regards ... Lois

Hi, thank you for the comment you left for me on my Beluga picture, it is a very huge plane, it flies over my house (quite low as it lands 5 miles away), it is a cargo plane and is used for transporting the parts to the factory that makes the wings for the airbus A380 the largest passenger plane in the air today, the factory has made aeroplanes and parts since De Havilland built the factory over 50 years ago, I have included a link to it for you to look at if you are interested, http://www.metacafe.com/watch/864812/airbus_beluga_super_transporter_airplane_at_air_show/ Thank you so much, take care Ann (Chester England)

Hello flibzodian, Thanks for your comment on my recent uploaded Sepia picture! I knew I couldn't win the challenge because it is vertical! But showing WS users this picture and getting comments is fine too! I like working with pictures after I captured them! Sometimes you'll get a whole new picture! Thats the fun of photography!! I hope you will visit me once more! Once again thanks for the comment! Brendan, The Netherlands

Thank you for the great feed back on my photo "Tombstone Gallows". What was more amazing is that when I took this picture everything was still and quite there was not even a sound from the street outside.

Hey Charlie, Thanks for the kind words regarding my albums. I do find rural life fun to photograph and you're right, folks are so very anxious to share their piece of the world with us as we park our cars and begin touring Main Street, Rural America. I love it! You've shared some interesting albums with the world also, thanks for that :) Smiles from beautiful (YES, beautiful!!) Texas, Kathy PS I have to say---southern Ohio has the greatest hills and seasons to photograph, have you been there? I'm a little prejudiced, having spent 43 yrs there myself :)

Hi Flibzodian.....I am glad you have once again found an album of mine that you like. Thank you again for your kind words.....they are appreciated. Those turtle shots get easier if you just glide slowly in a canoe along the shore. :-) Yes....the rattler was an eastern diamondback.....photograp hed in Sinnamahoning, Pa after we heard him rattling at us. Seems we had inadvertantly wandered inside his comfort zone. Feel free to come back and visit anytime. Regards.....John

Thank you for leaving such a nice comment about my Americana photos. I like your photos as well. Wish I had more time to shoot all the visual treasures left standing in the Texas hillcountry and elsewhere across US. I know what you mean about wondering who used to live there. At the old gas station where that pump is at, if you stand back you see the whole little roadside enclave with a diner and motel next to that. You can just see the women in their 20's - 40's hats on and the gas station attendants wiping down the windshields if you have a good imagination. Now there are 1960's houses built in a row there with some 1980's thrown in. Definite poverty, but a sense of happiness thru it all. In one yard, there is an old water pump that was put there to serve for public needs at the turn of the century... tiny plaque says so. lol.... The old ladies standing in their gowns in the yard told me that they'd lived there all their lives which brought to mind lots of images of them going to their first dances, riding in those big beautiful old cars with no air conditioning. They said the only reason it's not all torn down is because it costs too much and their sons are too lazy. LOL I said, "oh, that's good". They got a laugh and went back to putting clothes on the line while I shot everything... a pickup in front nearly rusted apart but still running and used daily, the water pump, the falling down motel sign that said "no vacancy" and "closed" beneath that, and even a side shot of the decayed facade that had hidden the shack that actually was the gas station when it was originally built back in 1921. Wish I could have stayed, sipped iced tea and patted big dog heads on the porch while the ladies told me stories about "back in the day" as they called it. But I was off to an antique rose garden a few miles away. Most of the places I don't get any background on, but that was an exception. Again, thanks for the interest... I'm glad to see someone understands my work. LOL

Hello Flibzodian, thank you very much for you kind message. I never saw a girl with such big eyes! Unfortunately I had sometimes problems with the sharpness of the pictures. Greetings from Switzerland Daniela
