  • Dear Ed & Helen, thank you kindly for your comments on my fireworks entries in the recent challenge. We had a wonderful spot to view them and the perfect little camera with a fireworks setting - haven't done as well since I moved up to a better camera. <pout> ... Take care and have a great day. Judy

  • Hi Ed and Helen, thanks for the heads up on my message settings. I signed up several years ago and never finished going through everything and setting it all up. I just can't wait to get all the data off of my crashed hard drive. I just got a notice about a picture contest of flowers with bugs on them and last summer I was incredibly fortunate to capture a dragonfly in my rose bush. It took over a hundred shots just to get about 5 that were of immaculate detail of the dragonfly. Its wings were transparent and in those five shots you could see the transparency and the stiff support in them. The eyes and every part of the body were just perfect. I had two levels of macro lenses on, my macro setting in the camera turned on, it was getting just a little dusk (making it absolutely imperative that both I and it were completely still due to shutter speed). My back is really bad and bending over as I had to do to get the shots was really beginning to take its toll, but I just couldn't stop until I had four or five that were perfect. I'm sure you know just what I'm talking about. I'm all about taking full advantage of those very special moments in Creation that come along only once in a great while. Thanks again for the heads up on my settings. Jay

  • Hi Ed and Helen, Nice flowers. I live just north of you in Trinidad, Colorado. I have 66 flowers in my flower album but only have had one comment, not that I'm really looking for any. I just wanted to let you know that it seems we have very similar tastes. I have many shots of regular garden flowers, as well as many Wildflowers from this area of southern Colorado. I have quite a few macro shots also. I would like to invite you to visit my flowers album, if you should feel so moved. I also have 66 photos of the area around Trinidad and the Spanish Peaks region of southern Colorado and I only have 11 (I think) of my Sunrise and Sunset shots posted. I got way behind in my posting. Anyway, just search Webshots for the name "pathofpeace", (no quotation marks of course, like I really needed to say that). But I would honestly like to know your thoughts. God Bless, and keep up the good shooting, Jay a.k.a. pathofpeace http://community.webshots.com/user/pathofpeace

  • Ed! Helen! Your rainbow pictures were provided to me through some synchronistic web surfing. I joined this website just to talk to you. It seems like a great service, opportunity, and community that this website has going. I was wondering if there is any chance that you would allow me to utilize maybe one or two of your rainbow photographs as a background for a webpage i am developing. Oh yeah, your photographs also served as a friendly reminder to me that Albuquerque is a place for my travels to take me. It keeps popping up in various contexts, and it is obvious i must visit. The rainbow ending or starting straight our or from Albuquerque. Deep symbolism. I also really appreciated that you guys brought attention to the sacredness behind the number seven. Very important. Much Love! If you'd like, you can email me at eye@rainbowcoyote.com I'm not entirely sure how webshots works yet, so that would ensure i recieve your response. Thanks so much for sharing your photographs and wisdom with us All! Much Love

  • Ed and Helen, Reason for the name of the album called "Circle the Wagons", a pulling of many composites together into one album and I'm glad you asked. Many themes all brought together into one story. Appreciate you stopping by to say hello. How's retirement life treating you two? Is the snow now gone and the sunshine a good part of your daily run nowadays? My best regards to you both. ron

  • Hi again, I'm cleaning out my Inbox and came across questions you asked about my "Christmas Lights" album which I overlooked (and for which I apologize). I expect they did use klieg lights on those public buildings. I was curious to see how it was done, and discovered there were quite small projectors mounted on buildings opposite the subject building. In some instances, the projector was very close to the subject building, and low to the ground. These were enclosed in a box like structure, with a security guard close by. There was no way I could investigate without getting a free ride in a Police car, so I kept my distance. One final question you asked related to a replitle's eye on a buidling. Yes, there's nothing Christmassy about the decorations, the themes related to Australian history, wildlife (hence the lizard's eye) or aspects of daily Sydney life. Only the Police station was decorated with ribbons and bows, which was a touch of ironic humour - remember we were a penal colony, and disrespect for the law runs deep through the national psyche. I should have written this note a month ago, and apologize for being so tardy. I have less time on my hands since I stopped working :)

  • Hi Ed and Helen, nice to hear from you yesterday. I really enjoy your albums, and don't expect a response to all my comments, although it's nice. Sometimes I just want to shoot off an email to you, ask some questions, or comment beyond the actual content of a shot. Thanks for the heads up on "NM Museum Natural History & Science" and "Dinosaurland" albums. Take a look at the guestbook entries, you'll see I was first in one, and second in the other. I didn't comment on individual photos - I had less time on my hands back when I was working :) Best wishes, Keith.

  • Greetings Ed and Helen, I hope your thermostat is still turned down low, and you're wearing an extra layer of thermal underwear. It's been lovely and warm here, although today is overcast and cooler. As for my baby bird, these birds live in communities; there are several in my neighbourhood. I guess this little fellow flew down from a nest and lacked the strength to fly back up into the tree. On the ground it was an easy meal for a cat, or other wild birds that would have killed, if not eaten, it. I doubt it got home to safety, but it would have died had I kept it, because I couldn't feed it. I reckon this little guy was so young and innocent, it didn't know who was friend or foe. Its innocence and trusting nature were all the more remakable because a Noisy Miner would never normally come close to a human, other than to chase us away. They're feisty birds that swoop on intruders, including us. For me, those few minutes with that little bird were the most beautiful and precious of 2007, beacuse it trusted me absolutely. Stay warm, best wishes to you both; Keith.
