Just got back from Middle Neebish range light. My hike was dry. The range light hasn't changed. There is a eagle nest in the lantern box. The door still has the SAME rod to hold it closed. The tracks are now about 2 ft above the ground and I couldn't get to the beach because it was so overgrown. Next time I'll bring a Machete. (I dought I'll come a next time- there are better to see. But like you HAD TO SEE IT). The house is still there but the 1st stand has toppled over & is falling apart. The sceond one is FLAT! Sorry to see an end coming to these sights. Great Pic's & guided tour!

I'd like to use your photo of Thames River on my web site about lighthouses. You can see the site at http://lighthousesrus.org/Erie.htm#ON84 (which at this time includes your photo). Please respond to me at c@lighthousesrus.org with approval or disapproval (I will remove the picture and the references if you so request.) Hi Dan: thank you very much for your message! I ended up hiking a 9-mile Chapel Rock & Mosquito Falls Trail with two friends of mine. It was wonderful! We even saw a black bear on a trail! There were at least 5 other small groups hiking along. Beautiful landscapes and gorgeous lakeshore! You can check-out my latest photoalbum with Munising! Thank you again, warmest regards, Elena.

Dear Dan: Iwould really appreciate your advice on how to get myself a company for a hike? Does Munising have any kind of hiking club/ society or a circle of people who love hiking? You live in such beautiful area there has to be something? I would be happy to pay for guidance help! I've read the response you've posted to SKICK2289, and all hikes you have mentioned sound great! But I would be still caucious to walk there alone... Your answere is greatly appreciated... I will be in Munising on July 13 and 14.

Hi! I have bookmarked your hiking in Munising photoalbum. Gorgeous photos! I was invited for a wedding that takes place in Munising in July'08, and searched Webshots if there are hiking trails out there :-) Beautiful area!

Hi. I was wondering if you could tell me the route you took when on Grandfather Mountain. I want to make a two day hike out of it and would like to hit the spots that you took pictures of! Thanks!

Hi Dan, I must just say that you are so right regarding the heat. WE are "cooking" over here. We had a muggy thunderstorm day with rain today, which helped keep the temp down somewhat. I would trade this heat for a little snow right now though.I loved looking at your new albums and must congratulate you on some outstanding photography.

Hi. Thanks for visiting my album - thought I'd respond to your comment on http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2379530580050223684OeIMEm - although the whole township is "private," there are some small charter boats that do water tours and a place in Port Austin that rents Kayaks (both in summer, of course) which makes the experience all that much more of an adventure. They do have two-person kayaks, by the way (in which a kid could ride). Caution: the wind is often a deterrent to smooth sailing. I check with the National Weather Service at http://www.weather.gov/ (Port Austin, Michigan) before going. There's a link there to an hourly forecast which is usually quite accurate.

Hi Dan .... That car (GT40) rocks !!! - it was an INCREDIBLE experience to be a passenger on the track. A neighbour owns the factory where they are built and every now and again, he brings "the pool car" home. The entire area knows when he's on his way home the way that car thunders !!!! About the rocks (cairns) on those old fence posts; I think the locals must be bored. I went back after Christmas and someone had knocked them all off. I prefer them "on" - looks better somehow. Cheers, Steve

Hi Dan! Thanks for inviting me to be your friend. I am, of course, delighted as we seem to have similar interests (other than the fact I can no longer do much hiking). I live about an hour from Manteo off Hwy 64. Thanks again! Judy of North Carolina

I enjoy your albums .... I need to get out and hike. I guess I'm lazy. We are surrounded by beautiful mountains (on our doorstep) - take a peek at my Shoebox album. Problem is crime has reared it's head and armed gangs roam the mountains mugging and robbing hikers. Lets face it, everyone has a camera and a cell phone and a wallet on the moutain. It sucks !! - Cheers, Steve

Hi! I enjoyed your albums a lot! The last one about lighthouses is very beautiful, I thank you for sharing! I read that one of your dream vacations is Germany. I love this country, too, and I go very often there. You can see some albums about Berlin, Nuremberg and Northern Germany on my WS page. If you have time you can visit it! Greetings from Italy. Ah yes there are ways into HMC that I found by accident. I do enjoy going there but try to keep it to a minimum. About once a year I venture in that direction for some exploration. The picture you were viewing is Mnt Lake. The pictures dont do this place justice. I have been very lucky to have been able to explor many parts of the Huron's and there are still many more yet to be explored. Your welcome to email me at chris@cleaningair.com fo more details.

Hi Dan, thanks a mil for your comments and the invitation, it is so amazing to have friends from all over the globe! The slangkop Lighthouse is indeed in the city of Cape Town, situated in the suburb of kommetjie ( dont try to pronounce it, it's not the way you sound it..lol!) We are fortunate to live fairly close to it, basically just over the mountain pass, takes about 15 minutes from where we stay. Have a fantastic Friday. God bless, Bee ( Steve's better half) lol!
