Hey Don, thanks for your "visit". I've enjoyed your work for years. Photography is a great excuse to travel, hike, and meet new people. I've just returned from a Thanksgiving trip to Ucluelet on Vancouver Island. It was rather soggy but I got 2 days' worth of shooting in. I met lots of wonderful people, and it'd be nice to stay in touch with everybody, but realistically that isn't possible. I try to make sure people know they've enriched my life, and if I can, pay them back somehow. It was a nice surprise to return to so many messages in my inbox. Warm regards, Jon, Bothell.

My new scanner photography tutorial album is completed , I think ;-) I had a lot of requests ( 7 ;-) for a tutorial after the first couple scanner albums got hit/views in the thousands . The second album got an album POTD and 25,000 hits in one week . So by great demand ( 7 people ;-) You can go to the top of my album list by clicking my user name or here's the link http://entertainment.webshots.com/album/564135626loYoZR

Your work is greatly missed on WS. Now I know why this website is losing so many of its long standing members. The quality here (to use an old cliché) has gone to hell in an hand-basket. I'm not joining WS as a 'premium member,' though I'll visit your page from time to time, as I always learn something useful. Thanks. Jezzy

Hahahaha! (Mirror technique!) I'm honored you visited my photos! I had just uploaded them and haven't even captioned them yet. Thanks for the critique - couldn't have done it without you! Literally! :) One question regarding the mirror shots, though - how do you not get that "double" reflection? angle? Wonderful to meet you and pick your brain!

Hello Mr. Paulson. Several years ago, when all I ever used WS for was to d/l pro shots, I fell in love with your work. Now, the photog bug has bitten me ... and I'm madly snapping pictures, entering contests and finding another side to WS that I never dreamed existed. Hadn't looked at ProShots in months until today ... when something led me here. I'm still laughably new to photography, but studying and learning and having such fun!! Thank you thank you for your GIFT to me of your advice on ISO settings!!! Whenever you're ready, cut 'er loose on aperture settings and shutter speeds, too!!! I'm catching on, but the more info the merrier ... and I love your photographic examples!!! Thank you again for sharing the gift of your knowledge and experience!! Very best regards ... Lois

Hi Don, I really like your "How to" with ISO and some of your students work. I do well with the technical side of Photography and I'm brushing up on the composition side. I've had a lot of questions regarding the use of filters. Something like that would be useful too. I may do it sometime myself. Between Webshots and Photo.net I have learned a lot and have gotten very valuable feedback. Have you or are you planning to get a Canon 1Ds Mark III? I am still using my 5D and it's serving me well. Marc Adamus has gotten a Mark III I understand. (Did you hear about his swim with a 5D? :-o !!) Just purchased the EF 16-35MM F2.8L and the 79-200MM F2.8L IS and we're off to Italy in April. If you'd care to comment on any of my albums it would be appreciated. I have appreciated your comments on Photo.net, Thanks! Randy Bray, Corvallis, OR.

Wow, Don, way to go! Actually, I thought you should get first prize in the Parade's "Glories of Our Country", but then I am biased a little bit. We are so proud of you! Congratulations on the honor! When I saw the photo, I thought of you immediately before I even read your name. Kayanne

Hi. I'm looking for one of your pictures that is no longer on Webshots. It was called "Through the mist to Royal Basin Olympic National Park, Washington". It is a picture of a footpath through the forest. I know it is asking a lot but could you upload it again? I tried to copy it to my new computer but was unsuccessful. I found it so soothing to look at. It reminded me of walks in the woods when I lived in Washington as a child. Even if it is not possible to upload it, I still want to thank you for allowing me to indulge in a bit of nostalgia through your work. Trisha

Hi Don, I wish I could make your workshop but I am unfortunately going to be on the East coast at that time. Wonderful album though. Your photos are always a visual pleasure to look at. Took your advice and I am keeping up the practice, trying new things all the time. I had some success with one of my albums but nothing to compare to your success. I'll just keep practicing! Mike
