Whenever I have a problem identifying a plant or flower from the pine barrens, I come to your site and thats where I find it. Thanks and I'd love to meet you in person. www.sagerus.com
I am grateful for your work on historic churches in NJ. I am looking for the Episcopal church I attended as a child from about 1958-62 in Bloomfield NJ. It was near the Elementary School, on a side street on the left going from Belleville to Bloomfield center. I lived in the Forest Glen Apartments in Bloomfield and walked about a mile to the church. I looked it up in the current diocese records but there is only a shared church now in Glen ridge, called Christ Church, Bloomfield Glen Ridge. My church was called the Church of the Ascension, if memory serves. It could've been built in the 1800's or early 1900's, I believe, a small, charming edifice. If you are ever in the Bloomfield area and feel like sleuthing it out, that would be great...or maybe you have even a photo of it, if it still exists, perhaps as a residence or business. Thanks again, Barry, for chronicling our NJ historic houses of worship.
peace,
bonnie
Barry I read your tree discussion but could not figure out how to post. I work on the Island in the summer time. Unfortunatly the tree you are referring too no long stands. Let me know if you want more info...
