Good morning! Good to hear from you. I am having a wonderful spring -- just wonderful. Hope you are too. I have been pretty busy this year, but still manage to steal a couple days a week to hike in search of migrating warblers and other birds. This time of year is like Christmas to me. There are so many birds making stop-overs on the way to their breeding grounds in Canada. I can see species that normally one would have to travel to see. LOVE the spring colors, the first wild flowers, new nests, and all the traveling birds. ( Contented sigh here ) Bet you are enjoying it all as much as I am. I think perhaps the park you are asking about is Southgate. It is very near some of the airport runways. If your friend is looking for it, she/he should look for Boetler Park, off Massillon Rd. Southgate is attached and you have to enter Boetler in order to access Southgate. Hope that is the one you meant ?? If not let me know and I will try again. Darlene

That what am I macro's IS a fun one huh? and the one you thought was unstirred yogurt is the the most intriguing (and missed) of any. Yes, rainbows, skys. all of the elements. I know what you mean about the robins. We have one fella that starts before it is light. I also love that little whinnie sound they make. Chicakdees are already building a nest in our back yard. I love spring -- so much renewal, the return of color, so much activity --- in the yard and in the woods. Our crocuses are actually blooming. Hope you get a chance to hike this weekend. Darlene

Thank you for the compliment. You are more than welcome to come & visit our lovely Blue Mountains & Wentworth Falls. If you want to see this view you might want to practice climbing stairs (unless you already have). My legs are sore from all the exercise yesterday.

Thank you for the tip about the binocular digital cameras, by Mead. I have seen such cameras advertised but had no idea if they would work well. Coming from you I would definietly trust that they would. Maybe I should add that to my Christmas hints. ;- ) A few of the Great Blue Herons are on their nests on Massillon Rd. Also the cardinals have started their mating ritual of the males feeding the females. Soon Soon !! You and your pups will have fine weather for hiking before long. Darlene

Happy St Patrick's Day !! Marvin does look a good bit taller in your pics so makes sense he could handle deeper snow. Does Missy get upset when you and Marvin leave without her or does she like having the sofa to herself ? We have been seeing robins lately too. One evening just before dusk, there were over a dozen in one of our neighbor's tall maples. Haven't seen that group since, but a pair has been coming around about dusk and drinking from our birdbath. Have fun with your new bird books. I never leave the house without my fav. You never know when something new will pop up. A couple of my most exciting ID's have been when I wasn't even birding. Hi ! No I haven't been hiking since the blizzard hit. :-( I know about the knee deep though. Been trudging through it to keep the wild birds and animals fed. We get sooo many more bird and animal visitors in weather like this and I LOVE that ! Been tempted to head out, but haven't been able to get away right now. I care for my mother and she has been ailing. I will visit your albums and see the beauty through your eyes instead this time. :-) How do your pups get through such deep snow ?? Although I know my cocker Lacey LOVED snow. She even liked to tunnel through it. They just seem small to deal with it so deep. I know without a doubt you would not take them if it wouldn't work though. It is obvious how much you love them. Well off to hike through your albums !! :-) Darlene

I'm improving. ;-) According to my messages I found this one after only 2 days. That has to be a record for me. The friend I hike with is also getting tired of the snow. Myself, I admit to loving it. Trudging through it can be work, but I figure -- good exercise. I have friends who belong to gyms. Who needs a gym membership when you can trudge through snow !! Also I love the quiet and serenity of being in a snow-covered woods. I love all the seasons though, so spring will be welcome. In addition to the warmer temps and the reawakening of all the beautiful flowers and plants, I look forward to spring because of the bird migrations. I can see birds that merely pass through and cannot be seen in Ohio at any other time of the year. It will be soon now, and I am getting excited. Happy Hiking !! Darlene

Hi ! I really must get in the habit of checking my messages. :-/ I am sooo sorry I missed yours. I couldn't access Webshots for a couple weeks ( computer problem) and before that was having problems viewing here so I got discouraged and didn't spend much time here. However all that doesn't explain my taking so long to check messages. I hope you had a wonderful holiday. Since I am WAY too late to send good wishes for Christmas and New Years, how's about a BIG Happy Valentine's Day !!!! I have been trying to bird/hike at least once a week during the winter months, and have been up to Station Rd a couple times searching for the eagles. I have yet to see them, but have been checking on a Great-Horned Owl who we always find in it's nest. Don't know if it is "sitting" or just spending the days there. It acts as though it is nesting. thanks for your comment :) of course you can have much more pictures with snow :D here snow is a rarity, something exotic, but of course if you live in the mountains you can enjoy it all the winter. I live in the coast and I can count snowy winter days on one of my hands!!!
