Hi Christina, How are you? I was excited to hear that your story has gone to print and cannot wait to read it. Your ears must be ringing all the time for I share your story with everyone. You and your family are amazing. I cannot wait to hold Rocky for the first time although I will probably be crying and will have to try and see him through my tears lol. I am so grateful he has such a loving and beautiful family to start his journey in this world. Your art work is beautiful. I just got my first two canvases, brushes and paint and plan to start to paint. I am drawn to modern abstract simple blocks of color and also adding print to the design. We will see hehehe! Hi Judy, Thanks so very much for responding to me-- sorry I didn't see your initial response, but I'm new to this site and didn't know the best way to get in touch with you. I feel so much sadness for what you and your family have gone through. I had something analogous happen to my father, who died in a nursing home. I was rushing to be by his side and about 30 minutes before I arrived, my Mom said that a nurse had given him a shot to take the edge off the pain. I knew right then and there (being a lawyer that specializes in bioethics law) that they had given my Dad a lethal dose of morphine. It's the "double effect" talked about so openly, as though it's no big deal--they give it to kill the pain, but they know it will kill you. Yes, my father was going to die anyway. But they did not have the right to determine when he died-- that's not their job. Anyway, since then I've kept an open mind about these end-of-life issues, and I don't buy the medical orthodoxy about brain death, either. I would love to see any and all documents that you would be willing to share with me. I will do my best to help shed some light on this problem-- I know Christina is not the only victim-- and thankfully she made it through alive. You must be an amazing mom to have held onto your own beliefs in the face of all that pressure from the doctors. I know if my daughter were in the same position, I would do the same. Dear Judy, thank you for responding to my message,it all makes sense to me what you said explaining about the organ donations.Wow,very compelling.I created an Album of "Poems of Faith" when I was at my lowest and my faith just 'absent',I was hiding out in my bedroom sort o'speaking,I didn't return calls,not even from my daughters (who live thousand miles away) and grandchildren, after so many back surgeries and so much pain I lost the will.Mind you I used to be gymnast,snow skiing,bike riding etc. very athletic,and all of that went away,I couldn't even vacuum my house anymore,for that matter clean it.Then one morning I woke up & I had a spiritual uplifting,it dawned on me that I had abandoned my faith,mind you I was adviced to see,and I did, a couselor.
