  • Dearest Carolyn! I read with much sadness that you are leaving webshots, what a shame! But I certainly understand your reasoning. I've looked at redbubble yesterday, another friend pointed me to the site. Since it's really more a site to sell your artwork than a photosharing site I haven't decided if I'll open an account there to give it a try. Can't really imagine too many people wanting to buy my photos..I don't even have a digital slr...but who knows...maybe we'll see you there? Best of luck and much success. And thanks so much again for your concern about Ike. We emerged from under the stairs unharmed. Everything around us was a big mess, power out for 2 weeks and internet even longer, for more details see my message board. I do so much appreciate everyone's prayers! Luvn'hugs. Marita

  • Thank you so very much, sweetie - at this time it seems like we'll really need all the prayers we can get. Took the red-eye back from Oregon yesterday to take care of Munchkin,my kitty, since the neighbors who took care of her left. Ike looks much less scarier from 3000 miles away than it does when you're actually here, I am REALLY scared, tell you the truth.Mike's still up in Oregon, so the Munch and I will head under our makeshift shelter under the inside stairwell(has a door and no windows), same as we waited for Rita exactly 3 years ago. I hope we get as lucky this time... ...I am so ready to move...Sunday before last we cancelled our trip home to Oregon because of Gustav...4 days later we were able to get another flight and were supposed to stay til next Thursday. We spent a wonderful weekend in Oregon with Mike's family but by Sunday we were stomped by Ike heading towards Houston...we anxiously waited but by Wed morning there was little doubt...so I litterally grabed the last empty seat at midnight...seems a little like going from Paradise to Hell...Houston, this time, we really do have a problem... Luv 'n hugs.Marita

  • Hi my Webshots friends. I am proud today. Some good steps are accomplished- 200 000 views. Without you my good people, I could not do that. As you know my friend I love poems and sayings This phraise is for you. From Shakespeare's As You Like It, 1599: TOUCHSTONE: God 'ild you, sir; I desire you of the like. I press in here, sir, amongst the rest of the country copulatives, to swear and to forswear: according as marriage binds and blood breaks: a poor virgin, sir, an ill-favoured thing, sir, but mine own; a poor humour of mine, sir, to take that that no man else will: rich honesty dwells like a miser, sir, in a poor house; as your pearl in your foul oyster. Best God bless you. My celebration touchstone is here: http://good-times.webshots.com/album/566734170OCDkeW

  • Thanks for visiting my Along The Creek album and for your comments and questions. The fig tree I photographed is by the creek. I believe that it is not wild, but a common, garden-variety, domestic fig. My picture didn't show the leaves very well, maybe confusing you about its identity. I'm not sure how it got started there. I share your feeling about the tropical feel of the deciduous magnolia. I have the same feeling around large wild ferns. I have seen and photographed the blooms of this tree. Ginger, now seven, had just turned six when the photos of her in the album were made. She's never far from me, and is right next to me now. Thanks again for looking at my pictures. Warm regards, Mac

  • Wow, Carolyn. Dial-up! Poor you. I wonder that you have had the patience (or maybe drive) to upload so many pictures. That explains the pixillation on a couple of yours that I've viewed full size. Yep, it's heating up here in central Ark. as well. Just a few more days, though, till it cools a bit. The temperature and the humidity have been the same number for a couple of days, and you know what that means! Oh, well, we'll have a glorious autumn and winter. Hugs, Barbara

  • Before I wrote this latest message, I had emailed the technical help at WS. I received a reply this morning, and it is exactly as I thought. Read "Protecting Your Images" at http://blog.webshots.com/ for Webshot's explanation.

  • OK. I figured it out. This is something new with Webshots--it's not something we put into effect in our privacy settings. So now we can't save or copy anyone's picture who is not in our list of friends. That will probably help to prevent unauthorized copying and use of our pictures in others' albums (as has been done just recently in a featured album--it was gone by the end of the day after all the complaints). Now, about the order of comments by guests in an album or a picture. You can select "Oldest first" or "Newest first" top right over the first comment to get your preferred order. Also, now on the friends list you can change the order of the list by selecting "date added", "recent activity", or "name" (for alpha order). And one last thing I've just recently discovered (actually Mac told me about it). On any album you can select the way the thumbnail images are displayed. There are two little icons top right over the album's thumbnails. You can put them closer together (like a collage) with no titles showing, or you can have more space between them with the titles showing. End of tutorial. You probably knew most of this already. I like all these options, by the way. Hope this helps. Hugs, Barbara

  • Hello Carolyn! Your comments on my album "Arkansas Wildflowers" are very much appreciated. I hope to get a digital SLR soon. I've not heard of the seeds popping from the Touch-Me-Nots. I'll try it. Warmest Regards, Mac
