Stu, about that deer in my yard- it was a dark overcast day, fooling the deer into thinking it was early evening. Though I didn't add a rainbow (HA!), I did turn on the sunshine in Photoshop just to make it look pretty. Recently our motion light came on and I saw a mother raccoon with 4 young ones. She had climbed the tree and poured out the seed from the birdfeeder, then joined her babies on the ground to eat it! Motion lights are a lot of fun, but the fox has learned to the millimeter how to avoid turning it on. He's TOO smart!! lol ~Jade

Hi Stu, Thanks for your comment on my CC entry . I agree the photo would have been great for the Macro challenge, but unfortunately the Frosts came too late. My best wishes for a great weekend, Judy

Definitely interesting "good"! Looking at other people's holiday displays gives me ideas on how to decorate. With any luck, I'll manage to post my Halloween pics before Christmas!

Stu, I'm happy I found your POTD! There are 3 Halloween channels, but it turned out you used the same one I did- the last place I looked! lol As for WS, I guess we all have our problems. I was always listed in "Most Interesting Members" for years, until this staff arrived. I have tried to discover what is needed to make this list now, but no info is available. I just know that it never includes me. And this has been hard on my stats. Getting featured keeps hope alive for me and I think it's doing the same for you. I belong to many other photo sites, but can't keep up with them because I spend 80+ hours just creating ONE album. I did put 2 albums on Fotki, but will probably end up moving them here. Three other sites where I had photos have gone out of business. This is why I only have free memberships. Sites come and sites go, but WS has lasted ...so far. ~Jade

Hello Stu, I think you were being nice in your comments in the blog about 50% need to be withdrawn. I thought it was more like 80%. I was going to say something on the blog myself but thought they hear eanouh from me all the time. I am trying to cool it in the comments on the blog for a while. I think everyone that read "see the Pro Tips" thought all in the tips were for this challenge. When in fact only the last example was correct for the challenge. Poor move on Webshots part. I think they caused it in combo with people that did not read and understand.... Jim

Thank you, Stu, for stopping by and visiting my 2007 Seattle St. of Dreams homes album. Well, I live 75 miles from there so I don't live in one of the houses. This event was one of my highlights of the year is to go tour the homes and the money goes to Childrens Hospital. The fires were set 6 months after the tours. A KING-5 TV video showed the sign, which read: "Built Green? Nope black! McMansions in RCDs r not green. ELF" The initials "RCD" refers to "rural cluster development." Earth Liberation Front, challenged builders' assertion that the homes featured environmentally responsible construction methods. 3 homes were destoyed and 1 damaged and 1 other, the fire did not start the house on fire. One was not touched. These homes were a showcase to green homes the first in their shows. This year there was no Street of Dreams. Thanks again for the visit. Myrna

Thank you for your comments on my plover photo. They are protected here I think the particular species we have is on the border of the endangered list.

Stu: I use photoshop to crop most of my photos. When I take an photo I like to have the option of changing the composition slightly. My first digital camera was a Pentax Optio (sort of a "point & shoot") which takes an 800 x 600 (4 x 3 proportion) image. My Pentax SLR is a K100 Super D and takes a 900 x 600 (3 x 2 proportion) image. The WS "fast upload" mode "converts" a 4 x 3 to 800 x 600 WS image (no matter what dpi resolution you use). The same "fast upload" mode "converts" a 3 x 2 to 800 x "533" WS image. WS takes "whatever" width and converts it to 800 and the depth then becomes 533. At least that's what my specs show in the "edit" window. I believe I "cropped" my Squirrel photo to 800 x 600 before uploading it. Marv
