  • Hey there ~ I did visit your site on SmugMug and actually left you a message I think. My current work is at Red Bubble and the link to my galley is: http://www.redbubble.com/people/MountainLover or try: http://mountainlover.redbubble.com/ One of those should work. The top one takes you into the general Redbubble area and the last one directly into my gallery page. I started to join SmugMug but the Red Bubble site gave me the same options as SmugMUG PAID membership did but for no cost ~ so we'll see how it goes.... Always looking for some way to make extra $$ with the photos... Now that is a challenge!

  • So sorry to take forever to respond, Been so busy. Went to Albuqueque New Mexico the third week of February for a Photography Summit. (I belong to the North American Nature PHotography Association) So I spent 4 days listening to the "pros" and taking workshops/classes and I then stayed and took 3 of my own to explore the area and take tons of pictures. Fun fun fun. Been busy with a lot of stuff and also I a site at Red Bubble. That is where all my "new stuff" is. Come on by and take a look when you get a minute: http://www.redbubble.com/people/MountainLover Hope all is going good for you.... Need to see what you've been up to and check out your albums! Karen

  • Hey Bob! Nice to hear that you are bringing in $$ for your work. Stock photography can be quite lucrative but I haven't tried to sell anything that way as of yet. A good bit of the things I do sell are more in the "fine art" category and to individual buyers, which has been good for me in this part of the world.... Still looking to get more "contract" work but in order to do that I need sell myself more, which seems at times I don't have the time to do. Crazy. But constantly working in that direction. I do have a lot of luck selling covers to the magazines around here (Real Estate Guides are always looking for "local" photography of the area).... Looking to go to New Mexico for a North American Nature Photography Association Summit this coming February for a week. Hope there isn't too much snow or it isn't too cold. Brrrrr. Congratulations on the selling of your work. Now if you can just keep you equipment in good working order!!! Have a great day! Karen

  • Now there is nothing more satisfiying that getting paid for something you love to do and its better yet that you were already taking shots that you were enjoying and someone came along and Paid you for it. I can dig it. And I know what you mean about what to charge. Sometimes I just say what pops into my head when someone asks and I feel that Spirit led me that decision and it is okay no matter what. I'm grateful for the flow of abundance, if you know what I mean. Glad to see you moving into that creative space. Once you do something like you have, it just becomes easier and easier ~ especially if you feel confident about what you are doing. And, naturally, shoot a million and one shots to get the ones you like. I love digital. Ciao!

  • Just me again Bob. thank you for visiting my Son's Apartment album on the Gold Coast. I wish I did rent them Ha! Robb is having a house built further North & it will be probably Feb./Mar. before it's ready, so they are renting this apartment till then. They were in another one just down the street from this one for 12 months, after moving up to QLD from Sydney but the owners wanted another 12 months lease & that was just too long, plus the rent jumped up way too much as well. Now they are able to have 6 months, then month by month after that, which is just perfect for them. Rob & I would love an apartment here but we have 'BAILEY' our Blk & White Shih-Tzu dog & he would not be a good tenant, as he tends to bark at everything strange to his comfort zone. ( Not spoilt much....ha, ha!) We love him to pieces though. Nice chatting to you again Bob & I will drop by again soon....Hugs from OZ.

  • Hey there Bob. I am really enjoying your photos immensely, as you seem to like historical places as much as I do. I'm afraid I left a rather long rant on your 'Idaho City' album but it was so nostalgic for me, seeing some of the past. Keep those great photos coming, as I will never tire of them...hugs from Jenny in OZ.

  • Moving can really slow one down for sure.... I've been here in my cabin for about 18 years now and find it hard to believe that much time has passed! The gallery looks good and now I can concentrate more on photo taking rather than photo displaying! Always fun.. I have a ton of new things but had a little problem with copyright infringement and so it slowed my photo uploading quite a bit until I could get that situation solved. I have so many new things I hope I can find the time to do it all... Stay cool (sounds almost impossible where you are) and dry (also impossible considering what I see of the weather out there)! Going to look around the albums you have now.... Keep up the great work... All photography evolves and I enjoy seeing where your photos are taking you now.... Karen!

  • Actually, lots of new photos but time is something I seem to have little of these days. Been concentrating on a new gallery we have opened and most of my spare time is spent producing art for the walls! I was wondering how things were going for you. See you were featured here lately. That is always nice. I hope to post a few new photos soon! Happy Photo taking!!! Karen

  • Hey Bob -- congrats on having the Boise Album featured -- I moved from Boise in 2004 -- so it is very nice to refresh my memories of the place -- you have posted photos of some of my favorite haunts -- nice photos also esp the night shots and the fair. Dave Clark

  • Thanks for clearing that up. After I thought about it I realized you probably didn't mean a specific book! My instructor in Santa Fe thought I ought to do more wildlife photography. Idaho is full of animals with elk, deer, big horn sheep, moose, pronghorns, eagles, etc. I would love to do that. Here I live in the city but the country is not far away. I can't just walk to the mailbox and get great pictures like you can. I'd LOVE to live someplace like that but can't quite yet. Thanks for the encouragement and ideas!

  • PS: sorry, you misunderstood my comment" There isn't a book called Expanding Your Creativity (Hummmm.... I see an idea for a book coming.....). I was just correcting my typographical error in the previous message..... Expanding your creativity is where you are headed! Expand, expand, expand.... :) Karen

  • Hey there. Guess I am monopolizing your comments myself :) ... My friend Sarah, who is a professional photographer (her gig is residential) belongs to smugmug too. It can get a little overwheming, I know from experience, trying to keep the website current, post to Webshots, try to figure the best way to make more $ from my photographic work, learning and using new software (ie, Lightroom, Flash, etc. etc. etc.......) eats into a lot of time. Plus, if you are like me you also have a "job" to deal with - not to mention family and friends.... Whew!!! I just keep my carmera with me ALWAYS .. Never without it, even going on a casual hike, or the half mile walk down to my mailbox and back (which just happens to be in the forest so plenty of opportunity for pics) Those are some of my best photos I think. The surprise swoop of an owl or finding some tiny little landscape that most people wouldn't even notice..... capturing the "essence" of an outing with others - "the as it happens thing".... I just wanted to set up webshots as casual way to capture a person looking for "stock" photos from this area or maybe just a photo I have posted there. I have sold a couple of photos that way by those folks directly contacting me and asking if I sold prints or could they use it in their advertising. That was nice; so it does happen. Anywho.... sorry to ramble here, but I encourage anyone who really likes photography to jump in completely ~ find your "niche" and run with it. You may find it taking you into a direction that hadn't even occured to you but it leads you down that other path of creativity that you didn't think about before then. yada yada yada... I'm done yakking... Looking forward to seeing how your photography begins to change... Have a great day and thanks for the comments about the school.... Always good to hear from folks who go there before you spend the $$. PS: Actually, just going to Santa Fe is good enough... :) Karen

  • That should read: expand your creativity....

said of BlueRidgeArt BlueRidgeArt 2008.03.26 at 07:25:16 PDT

  • No worries on the comments. I always like to hear what is going on. I am totally immersed in Lightroom and Photoshop and sometimes I use Bridge but not often. Found Lightroom combined with Photoshop to be all I need. Once you get used to those programs you will wonder how you ever got along without them! I also used to have troubles with Moon shots but as you mentioned, I found using my manual settings solved 95% of the problems I had capturing it. You will find yourself being able to expand you creativity now... but.... sometimes it is easy to get "lost" in cataloging and tagging as well as organzing your photos in Lightroom, but if you use the program the way it was designed and take care of those details every time you upload your camera you will find yourself with a lot more time to take photos....which is what it is all about! Looking forward to seeing what you brought back in your camera! Karen.

  • Sounds totally awesome. Being around creative folks does help oneself and always a little specialized one on one is the best since everyone's direction is not the same (thank goodness). I noticed they offer scholarships to their classes as well and I am going to apply for one (can't hurt). Anything to save a little money. I have had some success in selling my photography but not to the degree I would like and I feel I need to expand my horizons on what I can do to help make it more profitable. Can't wait to see what you upload from your trip. Hope your weather is nice. Karen.

  • Hey Bob!! Thanks so much for your note on my Prosperous Farm photo last week!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it ... sometimes those photos that call up an old memory are the best, aren't they?? Thanks again!! Regards ... Lois

  • I sometimes add my business name on a photo to show copyright, but actually I embed my copyright on my photos as just my name. Easiest. I don't think you have to register your business name but can't say for sure. My friend said the Santa Fe School was the best thing she could of ever done. She was really "pumped" when she returned.... Hope you have a ton of fun in your class and learn lots.

  • Hello!!! Thank you for your visit to my Creative Challenge album ... glad you liked "fallen on hard times" ... it's one shot of a very interesting series of structures, all in pretty much the same condition. I have the feeling that once upon a time it was a wonderfully prosperous farm!! Makes ya wonder!!! Anyway, thanks again for stopping by!! Always such a treat when visitors leave a note!!! Very best regards ... Lois

  • The class sounds like a good one to take. We can always learn more no matter what. A different perspective can open our own creativity ten fold. My friend is taking the Art and Commerce class next week and as far as what camera, I have always been a Canon owner. Currently have 2 DSLR EOS Rebel Xti's. I've even had a Hassleblad at one time, but silly me, I sold it.

  • Hey, my best friend is taking a class in Santa Fe next week too. I'm betting it is the same one. Her name is Sarah. Small world. WISH I WERE GOING.... Now, I'm the one who is jealous!
