Hi again. Those River rats are using Rafts -- various Tour companies have Rafting trips. Some individuals use their own rafts or inner tubes. The Colorado has a very voracious appetite and unfortunately has a yearly haul of those who are careless etc. A former co-worker had two of her dogs swept overboard and drowned -- she forgot their life vests and felt it was safe enough. Sad !! Charley

You are welcome, Joy! I'm happy you were featured! Thanks so much for your wonderful comments on a couple of my photos! Docs say I need back surgery to keep me from being paralyzed... just taking things one day at a time right now... thanks for inquiring. Steve's Cherry Cake was very good, I definitely enjoyed a piece! He used Duncan Hines white cake mix (according to package directions) and added 1/2 cup chopped cherries, cherry flavoring, and red food color. He bought Duncan Hines vanilla icing and added cherry flavoring and red food color and spread on cake, then added cherries. We just got through celebrating Hanukkah. We do not celebrate Christmas since it is a pagan holiday. We celebrate Jesus birthday during the Festival of Tabernacles in the Fall of the year. Thanks for the congrats honey! I wish you a lovely week, sweetie! Hugs, June

Yes, Joy, the doe was apparently shot somewhere nearby and made it to my front yard to die in safety. (I have 3 acres of wildflife habitat.) I have chronicled her death & decay (hey - I'm a scientist !) I found her because the turkey buzzards found her - hundreds of them !! Thanks for visiting ! - Hugs, Pat

Hi Joy. Thanks for visiting my sunflower and gerberras album. The sunflower is about 6 inches across and it brings me happiness with its radiant smile! I'll post my profile picture for the holiday. I'm looking forward to more of your posts from Canada.

Hi Joy, "How lovely! I like the name Ooltewah - how did that originate Teresa?" Native Americans lived in Southeast Tennessee. Both Ooltewah and Chattanooga, are Indian names. "Ooltewah Depot" is at http://www.jordanart.com/OD006.html .This is an art website, that gives the history of Ooltewah. It means "Owls Nest" or resting place. A book that I would recommend is, "Trail Of Tears: The Rise And Fall Of The Cherokee Nation" by John Ehle at http://www.amazon.com/Trail-Tears-Rise-Cherokee-Nation/dp/0385239548/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1258649015&sr=1-1 .This book gets into Native American and White history. It gets into the US Government, kicking the Native Americans, off of their own land, and force marching them to Indian Territory or Oklahoma. Thank you, for your lovely comments, in my "Beautiful Southeast Tennessee" album. It is greatly appreciated. Hugs, Teresa

Thank you, lovely Joy, for your nice comments in my challenge album! To answer your question: They say if I don't have the surgery I will end up paralzed, but if I do have the surgery, there is also the chance of being paralzed, so I want to wait. Just taking things one day at a time. Have a fantastic day, sweetheart! Hugs, June

Thank you Joy for your nice comments in my albums....yes we have hummingbirds here in North Carolina from April thru mid September when they migrate to central america. All the ones I take are from my yard and front porch. The one album is all about a baby hummingbird who could not fly when I found him in the morning to hovering and taking nectar from the flowers by the end of the day. He landed in my hand several times and I had to help him extract himself from the flowers a few times as well. Hope all is well. ~ Sam

We get very high winds at times. We have had two minor hurricanes and a tornado this year. Never happened when I was younger.. sign of the changing times.

Most birds fly south for the winter, but sparrows, blue jays, cardinals ..hardier birds..stay here. They find as warm a spot as possible and feed on what seeds they find left. A lot have feeders but they say not to do that as they forget how to forage. Squirrels are in a half hibernation in trees or any cubby hole they can find. They gather nuts and seeds all summer and store them. Some are crazy though and hide them in the lawn then can't find them with the snow. Even in the spring they dig everywhere and still don't find them. They fatten themselves up as much as possible as well
