  • Hi, buddy! How's it going? Have you ever heard of, or gone to, Unique Photo? It's on 46 in Fairfield, just a few miles from Willowbrook. I'm taking their Lakota wolf preserve trip next month and am totally dying! It will be amazing. They have lots of other classes and stuff. I thought of you as I was looking their stuff over and wanted to make sure I mentioned it: http://www.unique-university.com/e/ Talk to you soon! Take care, my friend.

  • Thanks for your comments on my POTD. It is a location I photograph each autumn. I had included a few overview shots at the end of the 2007 and 2009 albums here: http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/561426270GLfpoV?start=13 http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/575174811ovHMco?start=24 The trees are often rather mediocre, but it does not require great foliage to make these reflections work. Given my methodology which I described in a hiking forum (link below); it is difficult to capture the trees with the cascades without much split neutral density filtration. http://www.viewsfromthetop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32978

  • Greetings from Alaska & Thank You so much for your visit and kind comments on my POTD featured photo. I was surprised to find the announcement in my email and all of the comments are humbling. The Eagles are my favorite majestic bird. Eagles are loyal birds and mate for life so when you see a big pair it is almost always male & female occasionally it will be parent and offspring. It takes many long walks and hikes alone on very cold days to find a good shot, this picture was shot with 200mm telephoto on a winter day the temperature was -5 f. “cold fingers & toes” Again Thank You & best wishes from Alaska, Dave

  • Hi, buddy! Congrats on the featured albums. You go. Isn't it awesome? :) To get the badge, click on the site blog and then off to the right near the top it says "webshots featured badges". I believe it's hi-res. The first one I uploaded was very small, but they re-designed it and I got the full size one you see in my Halloween album. Let me know if you need any help getting the big version (upload it first, though, and see how it looks). Good luck. TTYL. Here's hoping I'm sending more congrats your way tomorrow morning!!

  • LOL. I must be greedy. I actually have won first twice and 2nd once. Had a 2 featured albums and POTD a couple times plus some sub channel POTD and countless member choices. What really counts is that the members enjoy the work. Like one CC loser that pulls many views. Over 150,00 views and 33,000 downloads and still going strong I expect it to hit 200,000 on that album. I get 3 to 5 thousand views a week on it alone. I see you are closing in on a million views yourself.

  • Hi, again! I was wondering about my 3rd entry (the graveyard), too. Should I replace it with one of my other inverts? Also, how do you darken the inverts? Mine were so bright... Talk soon! Take care.

  • Hi, Jane! Great to hear from you. Thanks for the note. I, too, always have concerns over my choices. I love when it's really easy and I know just what I'm going to do. For this challenge, I know the staff seemed to go with the more natural, less photoshopped pictures previously(I don't think any won last year, though there were some in the editor's collection, if I recall correctly). That one you were thinking about is fantastic. If I had to pick one to let go of it would be the inverted RM door- simply because you have the other creepy light in the door already. That way they won't be competing with each other (a friend told me that at my camera club when she told me not to submit two similar portraits- if they decide to put a spooky door in the top 10, you'll still have that entry, plus two others that they can put somewhere else in the winner's circle). I love that one you sent me- go for it! Hope this helps. Take care & be well. Have a spooky week! Richard PS- just don't hold it against me, though, if they put another inverted door shot in the circle! LOL

  • Jane - true confession - Disney's Animal Kingdom. It was taken through the window. There is a Bat Conservancy about an hour from where we live, which has one open house a year. I had too many irons in the fire this year and could not go. These bats at Disney are actually on loan from there. I have already marked my calendar for next year so hopefully I won't not miss it. • Thanks for the comment. I see you also changed your avatar for the holidays. It was popular in the Basic Black CC, but lost the challenge. So I am not holding my breath anymore. It did make the editors basic Black collection though.
