  • Nice photos. Dennis is this you. Karen, is he telling the truth. We just got back from a 160 mile round trip from our place, 2351 W Machaco St, Pahrump, Nv, 89048, to Artist Palet then Furnace creek ranch then home. The heat got to Judy about 7 miles outside of Shoshone. Had to stop alone the road ( she gave me the emergance 3 taps on the shoulder), poured water and ice all over her, rested there about 4 minutes. Got her to Shoshone. She would not go in the store to cool off. Wanted to go to our favorite tree and sit in the shady spot. Got her there. They had the lawn sprinklers on. I got her cooling pads wet for her, put them on her. Filled her helment with water and put that on her her. After a while she started feeling better. I went across the street to the store and got the biggest cup they had filled it with unsweetend ice tea, and a 10 pound bag of crushed ice. Went back to her and we went and sat on a bench in the shade. We both were able to cool off, taking turns with the bag of ice in out laps and working on the ice tea. After about a half an hour, we felt well enough to do the last 25 miles to home. So I went to the sprinkler and totaly soaked myself, jacket, helment and gloves. Then I told Judy it was her turn, and she came out and I did the same to her. We got on the bike and put the ice bag between us and off we went. It really felt great to be in the wind and cooling off from all the evaportaion. Got home without incident. Judy had a quick shower and feels a lot better now. It was 110 at Furnace creek. It was the HOT blasts you get riding alone the road that did her in. I swear they had to have hit 130, they would list about 5 to 45 seconds and then it would be normal and a couple of minutes later we'd hit another one. So 20 to 30 minutes of that and we were cooked. So we won't be doing any more rides in that kind of weather again. All was fine till we headed south at Death Valley Junction heading to Shoshone, that 27 mile stretch was a killer. Now back to your albums.
