Hi Jayne and thank you for your comments re Megan!
To answer your question, Megan was swimming daily over a period of about 6 weeks. She didn't enjoy it, but endured it. By the same token she wasn't panicked so we soldiered on in an attempt to build up the muscle and take the stress off the ligament.
About 3 or so months ago we tried to resolve the problem with 6 weeks rest and the vet recommended hydrotherapy as her muscle had wasted away over the last year or so because she was carrying her leg. As this was 20 quid for 30 minutes we bought a big paddling pool and some doggie waterwings!
Within a couple of weeks Megan was swimming 2 x 15 minute stints a day. We hooked her lead up to the life jacket and she doggie paddled away. After about 4 weeks she was so strong that we dispensed with the lifejacket and used a harness to strap her lead to.
Things were looking so hopeful and we thought we'd cracked it but as we were building up her walkies she cantered a little bit too vigorously and the leg went again. The vet recommended surgery and the rest is history. The fact that she had torn the cartilage meant that it would never have healed properly anyway but I think the decision not to operate immediately was a good one.
She could probably do with hydrotherapy again but we figure it's a bit too cold for the outhouse, unheated pool. Plus now that the ligament and cartilage problem is (hopefully) sorted, we are hoping that with good care and managed exercise we will be able to build her up to full fellwalking strength again.
Gosh I've written you a book! Sorry about that!!!
All good wishes, Les :)
Dear Jayne, thanks for your message on my recent Webshots album. I love autumn and a bit of snow was an added bonus :) Hope to meet you before too long.

Hi Jayne, glad you liked the sunset photo's, the West is definitely the best! I'd go out again tonight but it's a bit grim in Barrow this evening.
Steve.
Jayne, I am glad you enjoy the quilts. They are an amazing art and comfort. Do you quilt? I notice your dog is napping under a Christmas quilt. I am not sure what Fell Walking is but it looks like mountain climbing to me. The view from the top is awesome.
Oops missed your other message. I managed to catch the cyclist seemingly on the deck of the boat, i wish i'd caught the family with the pram, i was too busy looking at birds (feathered ones i mean!!) lol
Steve.
Hi Jayne, wish i'd had my camcorder, the clouds of birds were amazing, we sat and watched them for ages. Next time i'm home i'll head back down and try again. Glad you liked the pix.

Hi Jayne, glad you liked the Orrst Head pix, it was my pleasure to take them and to share.
Where next though??? Somewhere big like.... Gummers How? lol.
Steve.
Hi Jayne,
Happy New Year and thanks for your comments on my pics. Sorry you're not feeling too good. I've come back from Cumbria with a sore throat and feel a bit lousy but it was threatening all over Christmas and I think I held it off with will power!
