Hi Di, May I humbly correct your captioning? The seven pictures you say are of Schooners are, in fact, actually Sloops. Schooners have at least 2 masts with the forward most one being the shortest. Only one mast makes a Catboat nearest the bow, Cutter mast nearest the center of the lenght, and Sloop mast about midway between cat and cutter. A cat has only a mainsail - no headsail, a cutter has a headsail nearly as large as it's mainsail, and a sloop's headsail is about half the size of it's main. Just tought you might want to know. Take a Saturday and drive down to Castine and ask the guy's at Maine Maritime Academy to give you lessons. I'm sure a good time willbe had by all.

Greetings from the southern Oregon coast, Di! I have just returned today from a trip to Nashville to meet our new grandbaby, but I continue to be humbled by the response that I am receiving from my Pacific Northwest storm photos from last week. One of the storm photos was featured by Webshots in the News channel. Then today, two of the photos were published in the newspaper on the front page and above the fold. I scanned the newspaper and have uploaded it to my DECEMBER 2007 SUPER STORM album. I also added a photo of where a tree destroyed a section of our fence, and a photo of the jetty light that was knocked down by the 40 foot waves during the storm. I was also thrilled today to find that four more of my images have been featured as member’s choice, in Travel-Mexico, Travel-Alaska, Travel-Oregon, and Travel-Michigan.
