About Me more
Thanks to all who view our photos. Richard and I love our little country and are delighted to share it with you. We appreciate your comments but may not always have the time to respond. We want pics of many more old castles before they vanish for ever.

Hello Elizabeth, can imagine how you feel, I used to feel the same, no end irritated, till I found out that we have this to thank to spammers and other practical jokers. These puzzles prove that there is a human being and not just an infected PC (wanting to spread the infection) sending the message. Once I got that, most of the irritation was gone.

Dear Elizabeth & Richard, sorry for the loss you have suffered but your Dad sure did have a great long life, I can imagine that he was despondent losing his mobility, not good for anyone. The holiday was a good thing for you Elizabeth and Richard was wise to make you take it. I will look forward to seeing more of the pictures when they appear. Winter is not too bad, average daily temp is around 14, only 9 deg. one day last week but then 16 the next. A lot of snow on the Alps and of course the cold wind blows across us even though it is 4 hrs north of where I live. I am keeping well and still keep busy. Good for you to retire and now be free to scoot around with the camera on photo shoots. What a life, take good care the both of you and I hope you are getting some lovely warm days..Hugs, Shirley

Hi Elizabeth, I'd really love to see the album of your trip to the islands when you get it done! The story of Betty Corrigall was a tragic one, probably not that odd in those days but I quite like that era! BTW, have you read the novel "Outlander/Cross Stitch" (Romantic fiction I've been told) but I loved how it described life in Bonnie Prince Charlie's day ~ by Diana Gabaldon. I guess it depends on your fancy!~~~ ttfn, Leslie

Hi Elizabeth and Richard. Heads up, there is wonderful photo of Bamburgh Castle at Dawn, Northumberland, England featured today on the pro shots page. You can download it because you're a premium member (I can't because I'm not - boohoo) It's a gorgeous photo. Hope you are both doing well. Cheers, Cathie

Hi Cathie, I've been brainwashed. Richard manages to see the funny side of everything and it's rubbed off. He inherited a pet-shop from his father and it was there that we handled Chipmunks and practically everything else you could name, including tarantulas and scorpions. He has always been very interested in birds and animals and knows a lot about them. We used to do the occasional bit of bird watching when we were on our travels, but we've sort of grown out of it. Our main hobby these days is castle-bagging. Richard does all the work researching them and printing off location maps. We are frequently on the tiniest single track roads with passing places every so often. There is hardly a nook or cranny of Scotland we've not criss crossed looking for elusive ruins. It's good fun and we see loads of things we wouldn't have seen otherwise. He's planning another jaunt at the moment. He's hinting about Skye and Raasay. We've only been on Raasay once before. It is a lovely little island. It's maybe a coincidence but he always seems to be able to locate a pub everywhere we go. Deeper research than I thought maybe.

Elizabeth, thank you for all your interesting and informative comments that you left in my albums. I especially liked your sense of humour regarding the reproduction photo in my Insects, Birds and Animals album. I never quite looked at it that way! lol. How did you happen to be able to handle chipmunks? Thanks, also, for identifying the birds on a rock as Commerants. I love taking pictures of nature and God's things but seldom know the name of what it is I am taking a picture of! Keep up the great work on sharing your castle adventures.

Hello Elizabeth and Richard, I am so sorry to hear that your Dad is not well, pity that his last days have to be so upsetting for him and you as he must feel so terrible when he falls. Old bones take a long time to heal and are painful. Can understand how you were on the roads when it is ice and no salt for it, Canadian roads are the same and I have driven on them in winter, not so good at all. Well one good way to look at all the work around the house is that it should all be done about the same time and will I hope make you both happy you took the trouble.. Our weather is no like an Indian summer, beautiful warm days into the 30's and then a cool night, can't get any better except if it was raining and we had a lot of that a couple of weeks back with storms, ice and floods.. You are right Elizabeth, the world has gone crazy.. Do hope this week-end treats you to a treat in the way of sunshine and happy hours...Hugs, Shirley

Hi Richard, That pint sounds good, but like we try to tell the young ones over here "Do not drink & drive" so perhaps Liz should have them, don't you think that is a good idea!!.Has Liz retired from work or is she still going back? If after 9 months you are not getting any more benefit from the Physio then I agree, time to farewell them. Have neither the doctor or physio suggested the boot I was talking about, I found it of great support, also kept it warm and it can be worn inside of a larger type shoe. Time will tell of course the cold is not going to be her friend either, perhaps you should come live in OZ where we get 40 deg. heat for summer. Sorry I can't make the trip Richard but I just don't do much traveling anymore, family are all going to Hawaii to a family re-union Jan. 2011 and I declined. My son Denis wants to give the trip to me for Christmas but all that sun, sand and sea I can get here without paying for it. Hope Liz is OK. take care and Hugs, Shirley

Hi Richard, If you dragged me along for free I would probably say NO, I am a real stay at home now, but once I would have been in like a shot. Sorry Liz, has had this problem for so long, she hadn't told me about it and I feel the cold probably isn't doing it any good either. Will she have to wear a boot for awhile, I mean a surgical boot, I had one on my ankle as I broke it twice in 3 months and it is still slightly bigger than the other and also still has dirty staining where the bruise was, doesn't look good but I did find the boot helped me get it stronger. It is a slip on with strapping and straps up around the ankle, not attractive but helps and strengthens it. Bet she won't wear it though. Hope you are having a good week end Richard, take care of our girl, Hugs Shirley

Dear Elizabeth and Richard I had no idea that you had injured your foot Liz. Going out on a day like you describe probably not good for it but the pub sounds like it was the right spot for a little comfort of every kind. I have never heard of St, Agnes Brandy but I am not a Brandy drinker so I will have a little look around and make some enquiries for you Elizabeth, have you looked on the internet? Hugs, Shirley

Dear Elizabeth & Richard, Thank you for coming by and viewing Airey's Inlet. It is a great place for a holiday or even just a day out and is within reach of where I live for a day trip. We had a house in that lot and were on our way to the lighthouse so had walked quite a way. Hope you had a good New Year and your travels along 2010 are safe and Happy. Hugs, Shirley

Hi Elizabeth, I don't mind winding someone occasionally, I miss my golf but gave it up many years ago and wouldn't be able to swing a club now as the plates won't let my wrist bend around. Still I still have it and that is a blessing. Have a good week-end you two. Hugs, shirley

Dear Elizabeth & Richard, I do thank you so much for all the advice, I feel I am lucky to have some lovely blooms and I need to get out and dead head them all now. We have had a lot of rain today and floods in lots of suburbs..Another storm front coming through again later tonight, almost an inch fell in 20 minutes, hence the floods but it is all in the city & suburbs, not in the catchments and the water is flowing out to sea. Shame that no-one has thought of a way to save all this water from running down the gutters to the sea. Hope all is well with U2, have a good day, hugs, Shirley

Hi Richard, I have tried the Wet mulch, it is good for some and dnot others, The roses don't actually die they stop blooming, had one lovely bloom and then no water so no more blooms. I was always so proud of my garden but age and not water has taken its toll. I now have a lot of Daisies and they self sow and grow along most of t he year, also the old faithful Geranium always makes a good display but I have lost a lot of plants to drought and will not replace them unless we are able to water our gardens again. I get too tired standing with the hose for an hour and I can't manage watercans anymore. We have a wet week-end here and it might do a little good. Hope you and Liz are well and have a good week-end. Richard.... Hugs, shirley
