Hello! Glad to hear you are doing well! My students? I teach all grades from 6th to 8th, but none of them could answer your question. I have the lower level kids. My version of forcing them to think is telling them they can not use a calculator. It is frustrating, but that is how the testing in Florida has programmed a lot of kids. They say they want them all to have higher level thinking skills, but this does not include their basic skills. Once a student hits the 7th grade and is taking the state test, a calculator is put in their hand. I believe if a child is going to be good in math, they have to know their basic skills, but I am one of a few and I have little say in what is done. I live in a county that believes every student needs to learn Algebra I to graduate. Now they are saying they want every child to take Algebra I in the 8th grade. Do you know how much they have watered down the course? Whoops...you caught me on one of my pet peeves...Marie

Hi! So how are the treatments going? I hope they don't have you too under the weather. I meant to check in with you a couple of weeks ago and got sidetracked. I see you found my Scrub Jay outing. They are a really neat bird, but hard to find. They are endangered and the Florida Scrub Jay only lives in scrubby oak habitats. The one we went to is on private property belonging to the phosphate company my husband works for. They are known for their curiosity and that they will come for food in your hands. I was pretty close to this one when I was taking the photos. A lot of other birds would have fled. I think it was the shutter noise that bothered it more than anything else. We gave it plenty of peanuts in trade for the photos! I have pulled Penelope off the shelf and let her have another chance at the challenge. I don't have anything of interest in my kitchen, so out came the pig. I hope all is well! Marie

Hi Brian: Hope you are well. I'm in North Platte due to my mother having an "episode of vomiting" early Sunday morning. She was released from the hospital on Tuesday morning and is "back-to-her-routine " at Linden Court. I've been busy answering "congrats" for my "Life's a Beach!" POTD for the past Sunday. ... Marv (BerryMan) of "snowy" Denver Colorado ... sent from "almost-as-snowy" North Platte... with last night's "foot-or-so" of snow keeping me indoors today. I bought a new Dell laptop (Tuesday here in NP) and had them get my AT&T wireless connection working.

Brian: I thought you'd like my "Guano"! ;-) Don't know how long it'll take the WS censors/software to flag or delete it for being a "bad-word". ;-) ... BTW: I checked the Aermotor website and they claim "water and electricity don't mix"! ... they say that they don't make a "Aeromotor electric-generator". Maybe someone else "adds" them? I can't see a reason to "pump water" at the "wireless relays" (if that's what they are). Marv

Hay Brian: Thanks for your comments on my Walk photos. This year wasn't a peak-peek at the aspens due to the weather patterns. Different parts of the state were better than others... Thought you'd like the below image/link. I was surprised how far they'd ship Guano! ;-) Marv http://entertainment.webshots.com/photo/2159528520001186366srlDqb

Head for the Hills ... Brothers! :-) Since my "entrees" won't show up on "Weekend Walk 98" for a few days ... I thought I'd give you a "sneak-peak". Marv http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2027487990001186366YvJPZi

Hay Brian! Thanks for your comment on the "MileHigh Plus" windmill. Believe it-or-not both "tall-ones" were shot from a moving car (hand-held) through the "open" passenger window! I've finally decided that they are for "back-up electric power" (I think :-). I saw a couple of the "shorter ones" on a hill south of North Platte. (like the first photo). If you think about it, it makes sense to use Aermotors for electricity, as they have certainly "proven themselves". Marv

Hi Brian: I think the "ball" at the end of the rod on the windmill is for weight, but don't know why the "cast-iron" horse isn't enough weight for this "toy" windmill. Marv

Hi Brian, I haven't spent much time here at Webshots in the last few months, but was checking in tonight and noticed through some recent comments that you have been ill. I'm so sorry to hear that and certainly hope your surgery went well and that you are doing much better now. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. Take care my friend. Gloria

Hay Brian: Thanks for your kind comments on the mailboxes ... I appreciate them. :-) ... I took the "U.S. Male" & the "Boy's Life" sculpture photos last year, but only started the "Mailboxes, Etc" album photos during the last 5 or 6 weeks. The current "Weekend Walk Walk 90" batch was taken last weekend (Sat. to Monday) during my visit to my mother in NP. The "Walking Plow" photo was taken while driving back to Denver. It was during a "side-trip" to see the Crook, CO "Wind Farm" (see the last few photos in my "Windmills" album! :-). I took the NP mailbox photos usually right after my breakfast (at McDonalds) or during my mother's lunch or supper-time. ;-) Marv

Goood Morning Houston! You might want to 'check-out' the recent additions to my "Mailboxes" album before WS (probably) removes my 2 'cartoon' boxes. Marv
