A walk in the Anstel Valley

Near my home is a nature reserve in a valley where a barrage in the river Anstel has caused a reservoir to form. On a Sunday morning with temperatures near freezing point, I made a short walk there.

Malamocco, Torcello, Burano

Cathedral of Sevilla

One of the largest gothic churches in Christendom was founded next to a mosque -- razed down, for good measure but for it's minaret, which was converted to a belltower and later greatly expanded. The tower has a name of its own, La Giralda.

Some eating and drinking in Sevilla (and one in Madrid)

It'sm October but in Sevilla temperature rises over 30 degrees Celsius everyday. So people eat and drink from early morning till late evening out, and mostly outside. This is by no means a comprehensive picture of course. I will save that till next time.

The AVE (Alta Velocidad Española) covers the 550 kms from Madrid to Sevilla in exactly 2 hrs 30 min, and this is what one sees from its windows, going and returning at 300 kms/h (188 mph).
