Donkey Derby Days - Cripple Creek, CO

The origins of this popular Colorado donkey festival date back to the 1930s, when local businessman Charley Lehew thought a Cripple Creek festival would attract people in the summer months.

Shelf Road, CO

Undaunted by overcast skies and a brief snow shower ... our first adventure in the 4x4. Running from Cripple Creek to Canon City, the road is named because the south end was cut into the side of a cliff, forming a shelf.

Garden of the Gods, CO

Near Colorado Springs, Garden of the God is noted for its unusual, multicolored rock formations. Narrow-crested sandstone hills and ridges have been eroded into fascinating groups with such fanciful names as Kissing Camels.
