Region of Monti Sibillini, central Italy

May 1 to 3, 2004, pictures follow time sequence, passing the villages Trisungo and Arquata del Tronto at 750 m, than climbing to Pretare at 1000 m, finally over the rim toward Castelluccio (> 1300 m) in a craterlike environment adjacent to Mti Sibillin

Balkan Trips 8 - Spring in the Galicica Mountains, SW Macedonia

Galicica Mountains separate the two large lakes, Prespa and Ohrid, of southwestern Macedonia. I visited the mountainous area to look for the elusive small Orsini Vipers. They're not known to exist there, but the habitat looks suitable

Bremgarten, Historic Town, Switzerland

The Foundation of Bremgarten goes back to the Habsburg Monarchy (mainly Austria) around 1200, was conquered by the Swiss Confederates in 1415, was occupied by French troops around 1798 and subsequently was incorporated into the canton Aargau

Both sides of the Adriatic Sea - preliminary

Reptiles on Ada Island, Montenegro

Searched for Herps between Bungalows behind the beach, and in the deciduous forest farther inland in May 2004. All captured animals were released at their sites. The number in each photo-title of an animal corresponds to a specific individual.
