The Lincoln Sites in Springfield, Illinois, in the Lincoln Bicentennial year

We visited all of the many Lincoln sites in Springfield, plus those from his young adulthood in nearby New Salem (see separate album). The recently opened Presidential Museum is one of the finest in the country regardless of focus--an absolute must-see.

A Trip on the Wendella Combined Lake and River Tour in Chicago, 2009

We hadn't taken this tour in decades, but did it partly out of nostalgia (and to see how things have changed). The day was pretty gray until the end of the trip, so I did a lot of P-shopping to make the pictures acceptable

Airbus 380 at EAA Oshkosh 2009

An Airbus 380, the world's biggest commercial airliner, visited the world's largest aviation even, the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in 2009. It performed an impressive demo just before landing on July 28, and just after departing on July 31.
