McAfee's Knob To see the fires

Feb 15, 2008. Hiked 3 miles to Mcaffee's knob to see if I could see any of the forest fires around us. recently we had 3 fires in the area that were spread quite rapidly by 60 miles an hour winds. Here's a few pics from my hike.

Black Ridge Trail

This trail is part of the Rocky Knob Recreational Area, a 4,500 acre plot of land along the blue ridge parkway. Black Ridge trail cuts through farmland, deep forests, and high open meadows, a leisurely 3 mile jaunt perfect for whiling away the afternoon.
