Birds of Al Ain, UAE 2009

Photos of birds resident and migrant in the United Arab Emirates -- most of the photos were taken in Al Ain area -- an inland desert city. The UAE has become a birders destination as many hard to find birds are fairly easily seen here.

Weekend Photo Walk 101 -- a walk down a fishing beach in Kalba, UAE along the Gulf of Oman (Indian Ocean). Watched fishermen pulling in nets and collecting fish, seabirds enjoying the harvest, and enjoying beachcombing and picking up shells. A lovely day

Bee-Eaters, Blue-cheeked, Little Green

The Blue-cheeked Bee-eater, Merops persic. Just within the past few years these bee-eaters have started to breed locally and a few week ago the young fledged and are now actively hunting in a small swampy area with the parents about 15-20 total birds.
