Vancouver Osprey Nest #2

Most osprey nests are out in the country, but these two osprey built this nest on top of a piling in a busy section of Vancouver Harbour. The nest isn't much to look at, but the pair has settled in to raise a family.

Mt. Rainier: Sunshine Area

Mt. Rainier rises 14,410 feet in Washington State. The Sunrise visitor area is at tree level and provides great access to hiking and climbing trails. Because it gets less snow than Paradise, it can be hiked earlier in the year.

This beautiful GBH (Great Blue Heron) landed on this rock in a lake in a Vancouver park. I was amused by the mallard who took noisy offense to his entry into the neighborhood.

Vancouver Osprey Nest 1

This osprey pair originally built this nest on one of the cranes on the Vancouver waterfront. The next year the dock workers built this tower for the birds and moved the nest over. The osprey have been back every year since.
