Album Info:
Po'olenalena Beach, Kanaloa (Kaho'olawe Island) and Molokini sunset on the horizon, Maui, Hawai'i ~ "Her earliest thought was music. Not the memory of music, of hearing the sound of an instrument, or a voice singing. She thought in sounds and in colours. Her mind sang to itself, notes like light falling through a prism or a waterfall. There was a waterfall near the place where she hatched. It was the first thing she saw when she unfolded her limbs, free at last from the tight confines of the shell. She lay on the warm, grassy ground, her breath coming in short, exhausted stabs. Her eyes opened slowly, one after the other (she had three altogether, but she did not yet know that this made her unusual), and her mind began to sing for the first time, in delight. It sang like the hum and sparkle of water in sunlight. Like the boom of a mountain. Like the chimes of a rainbow in the sky. She had no words. She thought in sounds and in colours..... " ~ Poetry by Imogen Rhia Herrad, a freelance writer and journalist based in London and Berlin.

Just viewed the "darkly, deeply..." slide show. Awe-inspiring. Some of the photos are literally breathtaking. I know you've received lots of compliments along the same lines; you have every right to be proud of your work. Thanks for sharing. If I can figure out how to send this slide show to some friends, I know they'd be thrilled. I plan to view more of your albums. I would love to spend some time with your pictures.

I am falling in love with some of your photos. I mean-wow. What kind of lens did you use here (other than wide that is). I'm new and just bought my digital slr and building my stock up. Love this photo.

The caption is perfect as the water does have it's own music, I've heard it many times! This is so beautiful.

I am almost speechless at the beauty of this shot, or typingless as the case may be :) Wonderful and a great honour that Imogen got back to you about her poetry. I haven't previously heard of her (I'm a real Philistine!) but I have definitely got her in my head now, and I'll look at her photos too. Always lovely for me to hear from you, Sharon. Love and hugs. Imogen´s short story link is this: http://webdelsol.com/InPosse/fall06/IPR_Herrad.htm I tried the link she mentioned above but it did not work, because there were two letters too much the "It" of the next sentence. I have just read the whole story and it is beautiful. Sharon, this is fantastic!

Hi, I stumbled across this site and noticed that you had used part of a story of mine with that stunning photo. :o) "The Colours of her Music" is a short story, not a poem, and you can read the entire story here: http://www.webdelsol.com/InPosse/fall06/IPR_Herrad.htm It was published by a free online journal and I'm happy for you to go on using its opening as a caption for that beautiful photo. Since the story came out, my first book has been published, a collection of short stories "The Woman who loved an Octopus", which you can check out here: http://www.ipgbook.com/showbook.cfm?bookid=1854114425&userid=6B0DE562-803F-2B7A-7005045EA872F692 Imogen

Stunning capture Sharon. Something to be truly proud of! The depth of tones and the perspective is simply perfect. I'll have to download this one as a screensaver. Cheers, Sandra. PS. I've read all the messages on the website from the memeber who used your images without permission. How terrible it is that someone would take your work for their own! I was pleased to see the folder is now removed and that the copyright infringer has been thouroughly chastised by the WS community for their actions.

Wow Sharon!!!!!! This is soooo amazing, breathtaking vast view, beautiful colours and the poem is fascinating and out of this world!! Do you know that one of my favourite and best evening dress collections was inspired by the sea, of its colours and sounds? You definitely chose the right poem and picture!! Thanks so much for this dedication, I really love it!! Big hugs from Suni
