Hi Jade..in answer to your comments I believe there is actually a small school on the island for the younger children (I'm not 100% sure of this). Yes people do keep their cars on the mainland, though there is frequent public transport (both subway and bus) from the ferry boat to the downtown area which is just 5 minutes away. It is pretty much a small residential community, though there are some who have summer homes there. I spoke to a couple of the permanent residents and they do have to go to the mainland for groceries (quite a cold trip in winter) and there is also no vet on the island for the domestic animals. They do have a vet come once a year for all the cats, dogs, etc. and give them check-ups and shots, but if it is an emergency they can call the ferry and the ferry boat guys will wait for them and get them to the mainland as quickly as possible. I noticed individual mail boxes too, so they must have mail delivery there just as those in the country do. Believe me it would be quite a long walk for any mail person especially in winter. I think that having a summer home there would give a person the best of both worlds. Fay

Hi, Jade, and thanks for getting back to me about the Easter pig. My husband and I have a running joke about how much he likes pigs. He defended them once when I said they were grossy and smelly. Oh, well, neithr of us need the calories anyhow. Chip is smart for a cat - he used to get into everything. Now he's older he saves his smarts for stealing food and escaping to the great outdoors. BTW, did you ever get your remodeling finished?

You were very thorough in viewing my high school art exhibit photos. I hadn't even noticed the lady in green that you mentioned. Yes, the cell phone cameras were everywhere, and that became my target for the photos. Thank you for your comments.

Hi Jade: Many Thanks for your many comments on my "Seashell" photos. I was going to save the following photo for the "Creative Framing" challenge, but have decided it needs "too much explaination". As you can see the "site for the landing is in the middle of town" and not at a location you might expect aliens to land. The event occurred 40 years ago and has withstood the "elements of civilization" rather well. Marv http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2709644980001186366wUOiYn

Hi Jade, I'm so happy you are having fun with the circles. It's sort of like just eating one potato chip isn't it. I just made a circle of my cat today; that's how bad it is. Gloria

Thank you for finding the photo fo my daughter and her grandpa and noticing the matching dimples. Grandpa and grandma Craig had 12 children and I married one of them. He was as sweet a man as ever lived when it came to his grandchildren. They all loved him.

Hi Jade____ Thanks for finding the "Cotopoxi View" photo. The city is Quito Ecuador. We were visiting friends who lived there at the time. The picture was from their bay window facing the mountian and overlooking the city. It was truly beautiful. Glad you enjoyed.

Hello and thank you sooooo much for all of your kind comments on my 1,000 Island pictures. After 73 years of sitting untouched, Boldt castle was refurbished and is used primarily as a tourist attraction, plus you can have weddings there. The summer sunsets are also great. We go to boating to the 1,000 Islands every summer. That's why we never make it out West!

B.z.W. (by ze way) the phare in my logo is at Swakopmund, Namibia, where I probably spent the happiest 3 years of my life (straight after retirement) joost(just) fishing! Wife and I were both born in Namibia (when it was S.W.A.)but moved to the RSA to have more of our grandchildren. Four yrs ago we moved to a Retirement Village on the outskirts of Joannesburg.

Plans? None, other than the collecting and study of pictures of and books on Lighthice. Have been on retirement for nigh on 20 years and my WebshotsCollections (especially of Sentinels of the Sea) keep me occupied, interested and SANE! With a hip replacement it would take me two yrs to get to the top of a medium-sized L.h.!
