Hi Jade: found you at Fotki and left a message. Also thanks for the email. Will do as you suggested later, now is not the right time. Terry is even having problems leaving comments in guest books. Wish I knew what was going on. It was my brain that misunderstood your comment. Glad you will still upload here. Take care Anna

Good Morning SummerJade, Can you believe it, they took the Creative Challenge and put it in the archives. No mention of who guessed correctly or who took the photo. They (WS staff) are making me paranoid. This is starting to be my attitude. http://bobdylan.com/songs/birch.html Angel, (wood45100) got a laugh on this one. Have a great day! Susie

Good Morning Jade: I'm glad you like my "dialup connection", as I just "messaged" to "OK Susie", the photo is real, but I "Photoshopped" it downward (for better composition). Interesting fact (to me anyhow): This is the same wall phone my mother used (as a teenager) to make dates with my father. That's not "static" on the monitor screen, are you old enough to remember "radio-static and "TV-snow"?. In the URL photo: I hadn't a "handle" on feeding myself. ;-) Marv http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/1038970321001186366efVUAO

Jade: don't know if the previous message "took". Click on the URL to see "my" dial-up connection. Marv http://news.webshots.com/photo/2972521550001186366ZpMQPd

Good Morning Jade: I hope I may call you that? If your entry below doesn't win, there is "no justice" in WS! Wisdom teaches us When brothers fight each other Don’t get between them. It's even applicable to the WS blog, the hubaloo which hadn't even come up at the time. I see that there are comments negative to Terry in today's blog. I am going to "try to remain neutral". Now back to the "90 percent" of Webshots members being on "cable". I noticed that to get on WS "College Live" you have to give a .org address. That would be "high speed". If all camera-phones are "wirelessly" connected to WS that would be considered "high speed". If you add the paid & free WS members on "DSL" (even though it's not all that much faster than "dial-up") and the members on "Cable" ... their numbers "might" be nearly correct. Having said that, I still feel they are "ignoring their real audience" those who have "Webshots screensavers" (i.e. nonmembers with no albums) and "invited viewers" like your friend who had "proxy errors". Thank you for viewing my albums and your comment on my "WEB SHOT" icon. I removed it (temporarily) because I felt it was too negative. I really do find WS staff to be making a sincere effort to improve. I've noticed a great many "small things" that do work better. I just wish they had a better "help" and FAQ page, although I admit I haven't visited them lately. Marv

Hi thanks for visiting. Those pics were taken either early a.m. on cloudy day, such as the pumpkins etc. The other pics were taken either indoors or under a canopy. The end result was dark background with brighter flowers. Charley

Hey, sorry about that. I have not been on line much. Have been very busy at work...and with my kids...my sons first home coming and he was in the state finals in football and my other son was in basketball tryouts...so no time for webshots or Fotki...although I did take a peek at the blogs here at WS...I really prefer Webshots, although I still am terribly dissapointed with the changes. What kind of help did you need from or at Fotki? Did you let Iggy or someone over there know you are from Webshots so you can have an extended trial period for 90 days? Write me and let me know what I can help you with...sorry for the delay. Kelli

To answer your questions. He is my grandson, in a month he'll be 5 years old and his name is Michael. I'm glad you made it to the end. With my high speed cable I can see the whole thing in about 10-15 minutes. Thank you for patience. Cheers.

Hi Jade, thanks for your lovely comments. I see you went back to my album just as you said you will. I'm really glad you like those shots. I enjoyed taking them. Now I bought myself a new camera and have a lot to learn so I spend most of my free time experimenting with it. Teresa

Sorry for not answering your questions. I just read your messages in My Message box a few minutes ago. Regarding my questions as to what constitutes a Webshots "member" ... I was trying to get WS to answer how they came-up with their number of Members and the percent of those users on High-speed cable. It is difficult to ask questions like this without offending people. The last thing I want to do is come-off as a "know-it-all". Having used graphics computers in my work as a "graphics-designer" (never liked that title ;-) at United Airlines Flight Training Center, I feel I have "some" insight into "computer software upgrades". United did resist Webshots (even deleting my webshots and personal photos from my computer one night), but today nearly every computer at the Training Center runs Webshots images as screen-savers. Also thank you for judging my "Andy Rooney" caption as the Winner". Having not been able to control myself and making the "I was a greyhound before beta" comment probably went against the WS "suits" grain ... although I'd really like to hear what the WS "Staff" thought about it ;-) I really appreciate your taking the time to look at my photos ... especially if it takes as long for each image (and comment page) to load for you as it does for me. Again, thank you for the well-expressed compliments about my photos in "My better pics' album. I have more photos on page 2 in "The American West" & "Colorado Mines" that you might want to 'skim through' ;-) I can see you study photos in depth for composition, lighting, hidden feelings and/or the photographers motivations (if you can call it that). As you know many of the best images come from being in the right place at the right time. Professional photographers will spend the better part of a day waiting for the "right light". I have missed so many beautiful pictures because it took too long to find a place to pull off a road and get the camera out. In my other "Rainbow" photo, I think the lighting "spotlight" effect on the log building is especially nice. You asked about my 'quickness' in taking the Lightning photo. As I wrote "Cowboy" Terry: It was a matter of looking out the back door, seeing a storm with a lot of lightning, grabbing my 35mm, setting it on the back step on a tripod, aiming it and holding the lens open (set at f22) with a cable release. After the 'bolt' occurred I was so excited, I almost knocked the camera over. Of course, I then had to wait for my slide film to be developed before I could even see what I had captured. The image is slightly cropped from one side for better composition. P.S. sorry for the "Locust" St. error in my previous message, it was meant to be "Logan". Marv

Thank you for the nice comments on my photo "Night on S. Locust St." I recently acquired a new scanner that allows me to scan slides and negatives. It's taken me some time to go back through my 35mm slide collection to find and scan the "better ones". The subject of this photo was across the street from my basement apartment (at that time) and was taken with a fixed focal length 35mm camera on slide film. The "blue-green" lighting on the tree is from a "mercury-vapor" street light with the "glare" of Englewood, CO's city lights reflected in the sky. It was a short time exposure, and as I remember it, I rested the camera on a railing to steady it. I, too, have "gone-over" to a digital camera, but I do miss the manually-adjustable features of my SLR Pentax. Maybe someday I'll figure out how to do time-exposure night photography again ... using digital. Marvin Berryman

Thank you for nice comments in my album "My very own angel". This is such a special album for me and I have so many memories and feelings for every single photo I've taken in it. The little bunny you saw in the first two was suppose to be a kangaroo. Go figure!

Hi Jade, my comments and messages finally work. I still don't know how do you get thumbs up. Maybe you can tell me that. I'm going to browse through your albums this evening while I have some free time on my hands. I did put together one of my grandson but I'm having trouble rearranging photos in it. It just doesn't work. Thanks for your help. I would love to hear from you again, Teresa

Hi Jade: I was going through your messages and came across the Karma web page link. What I saw I liked. Just the intro was relaxing so I guess I have a lot to look forward to. You are a gal of many talents.

Hi Summerjade, it has been a real pleasure to have a look at this wonderful album, I know just what it takes to put an abum together like this. to answer your question about Conwy Castle, it is not preserved, only the shell and inner walls no roofing at all. The walls and inner keep are so massive that they have stood the test of time. it was built in 1283 onwards. thankyou also for your remarks on my Dahlia's I took a few before taking them up for the winter. take care Ken
